Mark Giles (Star Steel Guitars) built this Steel Guitar... When I bought it...it had both E9th and C6th necks. Mark was kind enough to construct a beautiful leather pad and sideplate so I could convert to a single neck (E9th). http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1029/5345_Steel1_1.jpg Of course al...

I agree with both Jerry and John...it is imperative that all band members use the same tuner or tuner reference..tuning fork, pitch pipe,or whatever...I have had two Peteyrson tuners and would not rely on anything but my tuner to keep my steel in as close to perfect pitch as possible..you see our ea...

Has any manufacturer tried integrating the changer housing as part of the neck, and also including the bridge too. I can see where the changer being independent of the neck would allow for movement when a specific amount of tension would be applied to each string. Also, I thought up an idea, and may...

I refinished a Sho-Bud Pro a few years ago...the original color was Black...and after several years of fading and the laquer fade it actually looked like a dark Green color... When I stripped the cabinet what I found underneath this was a beautiful Birdseye Maple, and decided to go with the Natural ...

Pickups are another one of those things that are a user preference...and overall sound is the SUM of your strings, pickup, amp, and even picks. You can change any of the above to change your tone to be more pleasing to your individual ears. I personally use the GeorgeL's Stainless strings, and the G...

Bill, Pickups are one of those things that's been discussed hundreds of times here on the forum. It really boils down to what your personal preference is, and what you're looking for...is it the cutting highs, or more low end warmth and body? My opinion is that most pickups manufactured today have t...

It sounds like you're talking about the screw that holds the tuner key in place and not the nut that goes over the shaft...if this is the case, Instead of replacing the tuner assembly, have you tried to use the next size bigger screw? It may be hard to get started, but if it's already stripped, you ...

I'm a Sho-Bud fan from way back, and my first Steel was an LDG, that always had a really good tone, I had changed the original single coil pickup for a Jerry Wallace (Tru-Tone) pickup, I believe you'll find that his pickups are among the most accurate for that vintage sound that people seem to alway...

Kevin, Also, you'll want to practice one pedal at a time because you'll later want to slowly slide into a note and it sounds so pretty when you bring the note to tone at just the right speed. So there is more to it than just preparation for the next note or two. You'll eventually start thinking seve...

I raise my 1st string F# a whole tone to G# to twin the 3rd. I use a lever...it kills the pinky if you use it often, especially if you're playing in G or lower on the neck. Note: I also (on the same lever) raise my 2nd to match the 4th. Now, you get an especially cool sound bringing up the first two...

What a classic guitar... I was refinishing a Super Pro for a good friend of mine. He purchased the guitar new, and had many years of play on it, other than the normal scratches, this guitar had been hit with a few cymbals when the stand had fallen in to it. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix0808...
