I've been pick blocking since I started playing. It just seemed so much more intuitive. You do sacrifice some of your tone, however. Not to say that Pick blockers can't have great tone, they just have to work at it. Like speed and Palm blockers. The two styles are made for seperate ways of playing.

"How often do you really practice?"

Ugh. Not nearly as much as I should. I haven't for at least a week. I still have to tune the thing again.

Well, one thing's for sure: Steel guitar's much more complex than standard. If you push on one string and it knocks others out on a regular acoustic, you either junk it, or get it fixed.

Ray, Actually, mymom didn't own the bar, she just managed it for the owner. She was still a singer, though. She went by her stage name, "Kim Reno". My stepfather (Doug Watt) also played there (it's where they met) but was not in management, just the music aspect. Curently, they're still gi...

b0b, I think that's the scariest thing I've ever heard. I have a feeling it'll be worth it, though. That reminds meof aJoke my Grandpa told me. I asked him how long he'd been playing steel. "Well, about 2 years, I guess" he said. "Wow. And you're that good already?" I said. "...

I see. That's some pretty useful info. No need to worry about not using any of them, though. I enjoy all those types of music. Particularly country.

Now here's another question.

How difficult is it to tune a steel? How time-consuming?

Tuning for beginners

Hi.

I'm just beginning to learn pedal steel, and I need to know what the best Copedant is for beginners to learn on. I've heard it's the U10 Copedant, but if anyone has advice otherwise, I'd be glad to hear it.
