I've played my Beard upgraded Flinthill for about 5 years now, and I love it! It sounds (in my opinion) as good or better than alot of instruments costing 6 times as much. Paul set it up with a Quarterman cone, bone nut, better spider and a MacIntire pickup.

I recently bought the MTB "Anthology" double album, and on the 2nd CD there is live concert footage of Toy playing steel on "Fire on the Mountain". Great stuff, highly recommended!

I always set up on stage left with my steel slanted facing slightly right. That way I can see the lead singer and guitar player at the same time. Helps when singing harmony and trading leads.

How to use the vertical lever?

I've got a vertical lever on my D-10 Fessy, which loweres the 6th string G# to G. Could some of you experienced steelers please show me how to use it?
Thank you...

Anyone heard of Kent Rose?

Heard a killer song the other day called "Women Keep Smashing Up My Cars", and did a search and found it was by Kent Rose. The song was done in vintage country/rockabilly style with great steel Image. Anyone have any info?

This thread made me go out and get the "Anthology" double CD of the MTB. The 2nd CD has a live video of "Fire on the Mountain" with Toy playing an Emmons, live-center stage! It's cool to actually see someone play the music that shaped my steel destiny. Also interesting to note th...

I live in Eastern Oregon, and there's Cowboy Churches all over. I play steel and dobro in "CrossRoad", a Christian Country band, and we stay busy doing these services. Some of the gatherings are held in barns, at ranch houses and grange halls. They usually have a BBQ or potluck too. It's a...

Bassman On-Off Switch

The on-off switch on my '79 Bassman 70 just died, and I'm looking for the correct replacement part. The switch has a gang of 4 solder lugs arranged along the top, and it's all a very tight fit into the chassis, so I'm leery of just stuffing in a hardware store switch. Any ideas? Also, to add to the ...

I play in a 5 piece Country/Gospel band. I play both pedal (sitting) and 6 string lap (standing). Before Ted Smith closed down, I had him build me an electric 6 string based on a Melobro body, so that I could play it standing up. Our guitar player, lead singer and I all have wireless rigs, and we wa...

Stage left, angled to the right so I can see the lead player real well. We're a 5 piece outfit and the bass player, mercifully hides behind the lead guy on the right. I share my spot with my Vibrosonic and Dobro. Eric my friend, it IS all about you! From what I've seen, those other guys up there are...
