Lap Steel Bass??

Has anyone built a lap steel bass? If so, what kind of pickups did you use? I used electric bass pickups and can't get it to sound right.

    The late Ray Montee had a large collection of "Pandas". He used a piece of shelf liner across his lap rather than glueing anything to his instruments.

    Great job Sonny!! Joe sent me a picture of it as soon as he got it. That looks like a new style keyless head. Where are the screws that hold the strings??

    Don was an excellent steel guitar "mechanic". He never threw away a useable part and his junk drawer had just about anything you would ever need. A great guy and a great teacher.

    With G6 you can sharp the Gs and be in E7 pronto if you like that tuning.

    Shorty boards

    That has been a good while ago. I think it was about 19 inches overall with about a 15 inch scale. I don't remember where I got the fret board. Dom Franco maybe. He can make any scale length you want.

    Keyless tuners

    Hey Sonny, It looks like you will have to go into mass production on the keyless tuners. I have tried to make some with limited success. I keep breaking taps trying to tap the holes.
