I play a Gibson-made Jerry Douglas model Dobro made in 2001. I have modified it with a Quarterman cone and a Fishman Nashville bridge p'up and open soundholes. I bought it new and it has been a quality workhorse. It may not be a high end Scheerhorn or Beard but run thru a Fishman Aura it sounds real...

Ok, Here's how it was resolved. The p'up came with all controls and parts plus slip on wiring connectors that require no soldering. I had placed all of the connectors on the proper prong of the controls but had the tone control output connector flipped over, reversing it fixed the problem. no matter...

I have checked and rechecked the wiring hookup many times to be sure I installed it correctly and everything is according to their diagram. The battery has 9.17 volts,...

Thanks Mark! I took the photo of some of my guitars last Thursday for use in promoting the lessons. I've been teaching on and off for a few decades. The last place here in Cincy closed this year so I've been looking for another location. Hopefully this will work out.

Tunings that include a 6th scale tone can all be considered to contain two chords: the root chord and its relative minor. Look at this as a 6 string C6 tuning that uses (from low to high) C E G A C E and in scale numbers reads as 1 3 5 6 1 3. Strum that chord and you playing what can be called the r...

Who's on First? Multi-neck Steel Production Timeline

Last winter when I was designing and building a custom double 8 string console steel I was curious about the design evolution, and innovation, by the various steel guitar manufacturers of the past. Just who did invent what, and when? My investigation here is limited to multi-neck steel guitars and m...
