The serial number anomaly looks to me like a factory job, probably for bookkeeping reasons, like an endplate re-use. The guitar is over 40 years old, I wouldn't worry. Herb, that ,akes as much sense as anything I've heard. Yeah, I'm not worried about it. Just curious. What threw me for a loop was t...

Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful. 2 Praise the Lord with the harp; Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings. 3 Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy. Go rest high, my friend. You created one of the most endearing communi...

Push Pull Serial Number Question
Here is a mystery perhaps an Emmons guy can solve. I went to look at this push pull yesterday. Nice guitar overall. Price is right, even though it needs to be set up and action needs cleaned up. Guitar otherwise is in very good condition. But this serial number threw me for a loop. It doesn't match ...

Back problems
I can't speak for every situation, because there are a lot of things that cause back pain. But my chiropractor up near our camp in NY told me 4 years ago, "If you just started walking, find some good hills to climb or find some machines at a gym to strengthen your lower back muscles, you wouldn...

I started on E9 back in 79. For all the swing I did back then, I could manage with the E9. But I loved swing, and eventually bought a D10. Then I started playing in a swing band, playing piano and steel, so I bought 2 8 strings nonpedalers, tuned them to C6 and E13 and put them on a rack on top of m...

Sho-Bud Pro 3, D-10, 8+4
Some of you locally in Eastern PA might remember Lloyd and Barry Kremser. They both played steel. Lloyd's widow, Leta is selling her husband's Pro 3. It's an 8+4. Lloyd jammed with us about two years ago and that's the last I saw the guitar. It sounded great, but I can't honestly tell you if it all ...

John, That's great news. Thanks. There is no way as busy as I am right now that I could stay on top of the course, but I've been waiting for a long time for something like this. I'm a multi-guy, and have played PSG for 35 years, but never took it seriously. It's one of my main goals in my golden yea...

Does it have to begin Jan 1?
I'm not clear about something. It says the course begins Jan 1. Does that mean we have to be ready to roll then, or can we sign up when we are ready to do it and it is good for a year from that point?

I made a chord chart somewhere. Not sure where it is, but I'll post it if I can find it. I think including slants you can get something like 27 different chord if you include partials off of one fret.Abe Levy wrote:Webb- nice to know I'm not alone! Now if I could find all the chords you're finding!

My 8 string E13 1.E 2.C# 3.B 4.G# 5.F# 6.E 7.D 8.B This is what I've landed on for the last year and I'm loving it. You can get 1, 6, 2, 5, 1m, #9, m7, Dom 7, 9th, 6ths, and diminished all inside of 2 frets, plus you can do chromatic runs on 2 frets, pentatonics are a breeze, and you can to A, B pe...

My Remington C6 has a George L E66 wound like a Fender Stringmaster, and I've always liked it a lot. For my George Board kit that I built for E13, I wound up trying a George L PF1 Paul Franklin pup, and I've really fallen in love with it. The E66 is more in your face, yet mellower tone, but then the...

Re: Stringmaster T8 - one neck not quite as loud as other 2
On my 1957 T8 the inner/closest neck is not quite as loud, and doesn't have quite the tone of the other two. Any ideas about what would cause this? Thanks! Caps may have been replaced and not matched to the others as well. I never realized what a difference good caps make or that manufacturers don'...

My parents swing danced when Mom was pregnant with me. Mom loved big band and Dad loved western swing and introduced me to Wills, Williams, Cooley era music early on, which really, the steel tuned to a 6th tuning took the place of the big band in the western bands. I was almost literally born to swi...

Webb, strings 3 to 8 of your tuning are the same as strings 5 to 10 on an E9 pedal steel. Bob, they are close E9 when I have the E and D together, although E13 has a B on 3rd string, which would be the same as a pedal E9 with your A or C pedal down. But Leon didn't have his E in sequence between F#...

Low string on E13 tuning
I've been shedding hard on 8 string E13 tuning for the last several months. I never realized how versatile it can be, and especially working it in conjunction with A or C 6 tuning on the other neck in context of the same song. Using hi to lo - E C# B G# F# E D B, I can play over 20 chords on one fre...
