no no, of course not. I just got a 12 string here on the forum about three months ago or so and am comfortable enough with it that I am ready to leave the double neck 10 stringers behind.
Don't mistake this for being good, just now comfortable on something else.

Derby D10 (c6 non pedal) for sale $1450
interesting custom built Derby for sale. Bought from Scotty's in STL in late 2005 and has had a tune up at Scotty's within the last year. E9 standard setup 3x4 and a C6 non pedal neck. Apparently this guitar was purchased as an SD-10 but the original owner requested a C6 non pedal neck to be put on ...

Lonestar Steel Guitars -Texas Special, Skeleton Steel, 6 STR
I have seen several posts through the archive asking if anyone has one of these Lonestar steel guitars that Jim Flynn makes out of Texas. (I know because I was interested in buying his "Texas Special" he had for sale here in the forum and I wanted to find out about it first). I took the ch...

pickups? - rock... Joe Wright... 12 string
Have an E-66 on a 12 string guitar that I intend to use for both country and rock playing. Obviously, the E-66 doesn't provide the rounded sound I need for this. I have a George L 10-1 on my 10 string that seems to do well, I could get the 12-1 maybe but looking for more input from forum members. Do...

I've always been a jack of all trades kind of guy starting with sports in high school and it moved into music. Guitar, bass, pedal steel, banjo. Problem I realize is that even though I'm proficient at all of them, i'm not steller at any. I'm best on guitar, but there are so many great guitar players...

wow, I thought they fell off the face of the earth. Good he is still playing. They had a good group of musicians and I liked the sound of their first album, but I don't think any of them could write their own stuff very well and they got ate up by the Nashville pop-machine not being able to produce ...

Even though there is less steel on this album, there are sure some flashes of brilliance. GOing through and kind of getting a feel for what he does on each track, he has some bursts of speed on this album I really didn't hear on the last. And when really listening to this thing, what I originally t...

Robert Randolph - Color Blind
This is definately more mainstream than the first album with less steel emphasis, but still some incredible playing on it. More emphasis on the beat but some good jams.
Anyone else on this forum have it yet? Love Diane and Stronger.
A lot of great positive lyrics on this album also.

althougth throwing his leg over the neck is entertaining, I have never heard anybody pick like him. It is a different style so making comparisons between him and buddy or him and paul isn't worth the effort. BUt I watched the crossroads DVD again last night and got his new CD as well and I just can'...

Jerry, sorry for confusing your reference. That is the only one I hear people talking about as possibly being questionable. As far as Down in Mississippi, it is refering to going to the casinos for a night out with her girlfriends to get away from there husbands/boyfriends whatever. It has the A wor...

I haven't seen him live yet so I will defer my thought on how he uses his pedals. Many others here said he doesn't use them much and on the crossroads DVD he didn't. But I have heard clips of him playing country riffs and know he knows how to use them well. If he uses them a lot now then I guess it ...

Sigh.... Robert Randolph Tuning ?????
Do I even dare bring it up. I think it has finally become a safe subject around here and I know there are 40 threads already about Robert and about 4 about his tuning but they all look to be from a couple years back. Finding Robert's actual 13 string tuning is way more difficult than I ever thought....

The sacred steel/blues delimma -not enough necks
Don't want to get too far from my question, but the market here in STL for country is not good enough to support the 4-5 mainstream country bands in this town. You can't be a six peice band, hire out sound, and expect to come home with $100 in your pocket at the end of the night on a consistant bas...

How to get the Hilton to STAY?
Anyone figured out how to adjust anything on the Hilton volume pedal to get it to stay in one spot like the goodrich? I love the pedal and can't do without it, but my style of playing may be changing and will need the right foot for other things. It doesn't stay in place and always comes all the way...

Hey Jim, It is a song of Keith Urban's first solo album (when he used to actually do some chickin picken). It is an instrumental called Rollercoaster. Great tune with a GREAT steel break. Very nice descending lick I was working with. If you have some slant chops, could I borrow those from you like y...

my biggest mistake starting out early was learning the parts and not learning the instrument. Go with Larry's suggestion. Learn the chord changes in every song. Know how to play each chord in three different positions so you can slide around. If there is a signature lick, learn it, otherwise, stick ...
