I play in a 5 piece band, and I think that the higher tuning sits in the mix better.

I use a C13 tuning like yours, but I use an octave high Bb for the last note, just a half step higher than the 4th string A.

Lap steel body

I'm looking for a relatively inexpensive lap steel body for a project. Thanks!
To be more clear: I have parts left over from my recent conversion of the 7 string neck on my '48 Gibson Console Grande to 8 string. I have the original 7 string pickup, bridge and nut. Looking for a body to put them on.

Those are the GOOD pickups, may even be what are today mislabeled P90s (they were wound differently than the fame guitar P90). Mine had the soap-bars and they just didn't have that "pressure" (greatly regarded by Jazz GUITARISTS, thou). Nice job on the conversion. By the way, they are hea...

I finally completed the conversion from 7/8 to 8/8 yesterday. Finding the parts was the hardest part of the process. Thanks to Tommy Wayne and David Venzke for giving me some very hard to find parts! Also, thanks to Kevin Glandon for advice. I've been playing the guitar with just one working neck fo...

That thing that looks like a "0" next to the 5 is a blemish in the wood. I'm pretty sure that there are just 3 characters there. Have you ever seem a date written like this on one of these?

I took the control plate off of my '40's CG today and noticed these hand written numbers. They don't look like a serial number or an FON. Anybody know what they are?Image [/img]

There's one very much like yours on Ebay right now that's not selling at $1999. The same one has been on Reverb for 9 months at $1699. If yours in in good shape and has it's original case, maybe $1000-1200?

From what I've read, the Console Grande had 3 legs in 1948 and 49, then switched to 4.
I have a '48 7/8 that's also been converted to more modern legs. Great guitar!

Give www.Stewmac.com a look see. Thanks, that's the first place I looked. The only thing that they have that looks like it might works is one of the very expensive Waverly sets. I bought some of the Grover tuners that other people have used, but either Grover changed their specs, or the pan I have ...

Gibson also made 7 string steels before WWII. Gibson also made 7-string Ultratones post-WW II. Not particularly common, but they're out there in both the first (white) and second (blonde) versions. Right! I forgot about those. I've also seen some other old 7 strings. Audiovox and Gretsch come to mi...

I have a lot of arthritis issues with my fingers also. I like the Stevens bar, but I find that if I use it for too long, my index finger starts to hurt like crazy from laying it on top of the bar. My solution is to keep a bullet bar on hand to switch to. Maybe try using a couple of different bars an...

I have a couple of packs of "vintage" strings to give away. Maybe useful to a player, or for display? These are spoken for. Thanks! 1. Fender A7th 8 string set. 2. Dobro brand 6 string reso set. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/4440_100_6845_1.jpg https://bb.steelguitarforum.com...
