As new - never gigged - changing priorities unfortunately.
Looking for around £375.
Happy for you to come look/try, and will be at the americana in Newark so if someone wants it and is going, we could handover there.

Paddy, lifting the *power* ground on ANYTHING is very risky. The ground is an important safety facility. Please bear in mind that we often turn up at places and rarely do any checking of the power. If we lift the ground on power and someone else gets electrocuted we have major problems. Albeit not a...

NEVER EVER LIFT THE GROUND ON A POWER CONNECTOR. Sorry about shouting like that, but the grounds are there for safety and kind of important. Are both amps connected to the same power source? If not plug them into the same power circuit. Then check ever signal lead carefully. If any are old or tatty,...

Terry, you don't need to spend $400. An SM57 (I know it looks like I have shares in shure) is a safe bet - it will do the job - I used one a week ago for steel through a boogie combo and it sounded quite nice. The first site I looked at (zzsounds) that listed a price has them at $90. The senny 609s ...

SM57 is a shure mic, and is the standard start point for many engineers when micing a guitar cab. A comment made in the post about giving the sound guy a hot signal is worth commenting on. At soundcheck, one of the aims is to set levels. What I want is the hottest signal you are going to give me. Wh...

As well as being a muso I run sound - a week ago I did a UK band called Lost Highway (one of my best friends is the lead guitar) and they have a steel player (Hi Dave!). I treat the steel as I would a guitar. By far the first choice is a mic in front, starting point is SM57. I do not like using DI w...

I use in ear monitors and love them. I have only gigged with them on bass, but I can hear what I play instead of just getting mud. You need a lot more in the monitor mix than you would with floor monitors, but can keep the level a lot lower. Think also about using a mic to pick up general room/audie...

I git the VS-II in preparation for getting my steel. So far I am well impressed with it. The only problem I have is remembering to turn it os and finding that the batteries are flat. It does come with a wall wart, but that is US pins not UK. ------------------ Absolute beginner! Bennet Freshman E9 3...

I'm afraid I can't help directly, but it may be worth asking GFI themselves - http://www.gfimusicalproducts.com/Pages/Contact%20Us.htm Looking at their website, couldthis have the keyless option - http://www.gfimusicalproducts.com/Pages/Keyless%20Tuning%20System.htm Instructions are at http://www.gf...

I can't remember - is Norway part of the EU? If so you should be able to get a VSII from another EU country such as the UK such as the guys here http://www.soundsgreatmusic.com/index1.htm - this is where I got mine.

A little anecdote. I have played in rockabilly bands for years. We were playing a friend's birthday party. Said friend was a guitarist (punky background), so we thought we would get him up for a number. Our guitarist had a telecaster available, and had set it up with a nice typical tele sound. Said ...

I am not a gigging steel player, but have been a bassplayer for <mumble> years, and do sound work as well. My experience is the bare minimum in monitors that you need is best. Bass is best avoided. I start with *just* vocals and work from there. It is better if guitarists then have their amps pointe...

Thanks for the replies so far! Matt - I have seen the ad and dropped Les an email. I am not convinced fixed height is a good idea just yet, but it is worth an enquiry. Thanks to everyone else as well - I suspect there may be a few more comments coming. My bulk probably won't help finding deats comfo...

What do you guys sit on?
I am a new steeler - had it for three weeks and been on holiday (vacation) for one of them, and was wondering what you generally sit on? I have seen some storage seats, the look a decent idea, but don't look very adjustable. I am currently using an ancient, borrowed drum stool that makes me stop aft...

Ronald - the Bennetts are made by a guy in England called Ron Bennett. He is in an area called The Wirrall, which is in between Liverpool and Chester if you know much about the UK. I am fortunate that he is less than an hour away. As a first steel I quite like the idea that he is local. The price is...

I looks forwards to the fu...
