Harlin versus newer pedal guitars

There is an old Harlin pedal guitar in a music store in town, and I am toying with the idea of buying and learning to play it. I have searched this site looking for information on the old Harlin pedal guitars, and I found a LOT. But I still have one question -what is the main difference between Harl...

Thanks to all

My post gave me names I have never heard of, but are exactly what I was looking for. So far, Youtube and internet are leading to some good sources your answers supplied. And a surprise bonus for me, I went to the local used record/tape store,(yes, they still exist) and presented all the names you al...

Introduction and questions

I play, as a hobby, finger style guitar (a la Merle Travis, John Fahey, etc.) I have tried to transfer my playing to a lap guitar, and I find that there is a very limited number of frets that allow me to play the melody note, at the same time I am fretting at least two bass notes for the thumb picki...

I do not know the answer to your question, but I do know that some six string guitar manufacturers will place numbers under the bridge assembly, and on one guitar I have seen, there was a penciled production number under the tail stock, written directly onto the wood prior to assembly.

It works , sort of

I have made several lap guitars using not rectangular channel, but I used "U" channel (1/4 thick, about three inches by 2 cross section, and of course about a yard long.)I made it with the open side of the channel facing up, and then filled the open space with alternate pieces of walnut an...

Scratchy pots

There are three approaches -you can simply replace the pots, which is expensive and takes some background, or you can take the pots apart and gently clean off the wiper area with solvent and a cotton swab, but this is also time consuming, and sometimes, the pots cannot be taken apart. The third appr...

Multikord question

Hi I have searched the past posts here to get information on the Multikord, and have found lots of background. I have also looked at one, and see how it works , on a mechanical level. (I cant play one yet.) Since I play finger style guitar (Travis, Atkins sort of playing)I want to transfer what I do...

30's slide artist

A long time ago ( maybe 1970,) in a used bookstore, I came across a 20's or 30's book of slide music. On the cover was a picture of the composer - an attractive young woman, and her last name was something like Stumph or Stumf. I succeeded in learning only one of the difficult but attractive pieces ...

Hi
I can play - and have enjoyed - the MP3 demos and sound bites on this site. But altho the topic of this item refers to MP3, I cannot play these selections on my computer. Do I need more software ?

Thanks
