Fred I don't have experience of the LR Baggs M1 but a similar pickup is the Sunrise pickup ( http://www.sunrisepickups.com ). I've used one in a Taylor flat top converted for lap style; good detailed sound. As to the ibeam; I use a passive one in a Larrivee parlour guitar feeding an LR Baggs Para Ac...

For Denny & Rick I can't read music, pick most things out by ear or by pestering Dan (my playing partner). I'm no mathmatician and music theory scares me; once after a one to one music class at school I saw the teacher in tears. I sit on the sidelines in this forum and I watch, read & learn....

Ron My persistence just has to pay off sometime! Seems like I've been dogged. Only tracked four of them; one refinished (non standard),one turned out to be guitarcenter; way too pricey, one a dealer who sold it from out under me and this one... at least I have the BR and the sixth tunings are just a...

EH150 Help with pricing please

Dear All I had a lot of advice about EH150's generally here; thanks to all for that: http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum2/HTML/007621.html As a result I passed on the guitar. Now another has cropped up this time in the USA. I've been sent some pictures and put them together in Acrobat(.pdf)file here. ...

Howard R - its got what I take to be a Charlie Christian pickup. Is the ES300 pickup like the one on the EH100 or am I barking up the wrong tree entirely?

George, thanks for the information and I agree, they are lovely guitars. As I said I've been looking for a while and now three have turned up.... The person selling this one has asked me to "make him an offer". I had a suspicion about the possible refinish but didn't want to enter negotiat...

Gibson EH150 advice/assistance

I've been looking for one of these for a while. One has cropped up, looks good but the headstock face is a laquered natural wood finish rather than black. The Gibson logo & inlay are all in place. Was this a factory finish or am I looking at a later refinish do you think?

Thought I'd revive this thread in the light of my recent attempt to get a sunburst Gibson EH185/150/100 with a Charlie Christian pickup. See here on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7333141823&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEDW%3AIT&rd=1 In an earlier post I was of...

There is some interesting discussion going on over at guitarseminars. It's not just Guitar Center who are pulling this one... seems like lap steels are being seen all over as a gravy train. I live in the UK and went to see a Gibson EH 150 over here (been looking for one for a while) quite a tatty bl...

For Ron Victoria

Ron - thanks for the email - I did try replying but the mail server at Verizon treated my mail as spam ( bit of an irony really since Verizon is the source of a lot of spam to me!)- I'd be very interested to hear (and see) more on the BR4 - regards - Cris

Couldn't agree more George; doesn't matter who owned it really. I'm just intrigued to see how he justifies that price.... oh, and my 700-850 should have been $'s not £'s

I'm astonished at this. I know that the market is pretty good (fat chance of me laying my hands on one at the moment at the right price!)but even so - I wrote to the seller: "Can you tell me upon what criteria you've set this price? I'm asking because I've been looking for a Console Grande for ...

Going back to something Travis said earlier in this thread "P.S. I really like the sound of a flat top with a raised nut also - have you heard any Kelly Joe Phelps?" - Yes, and what an inspiration - I saw him recently over here; doesn't seem to be playing slide much these days but his earl...
