I think one of the main differences between the blackface and silver face (both vintage and re-issue) is the blackface has a tube rectifier and the silverface has a solid state rectifier which could account for the tonal differences that Dave mentioned.

I use mine a lot for guitar. I tried it for pedal steel at a gig a few weeks ago and liked it just fine. I ran the bass up all the way and backed off the treble to around 2. ( I play a stage one with the BL 705 re-issue p/u) We were playing with a great PA and stage volume was well in control. I wou...

You should have it pretty quick. My wife shipped it yesterday. I'll get you a tracking number and PM it to you this evening.

I will submit a donation to bOb, I need to order some strings anyway.

I would get a second opinion before trashing it. You can see there are a lot of different opinions about PCB tube amps. Find a shop that ain't skeered to work on them.

Learning pedal steel

How I learned Pedal Steel: 1. Purchased Fender 1000 from Heart of Texas Music in Temple Texas in 1971. 2. Instruction. My instruction was from Maxie and Jimmy at Heart of Texas Music. The instruction was "open is an E chord, mash those first two pedals and you get an A chord, don't worry about ...

Soft cases

I had Susan at Studio Slips make me a custom set of gig bags for my StageOne, one for the body and one for the legs, rods, and pedal rack. They are double padded and the body case has extra handles on the ends and leather wear strip on one side. It was already pretty light to begin with but our rehe...

BlackStar

I have a BlackStar HT Club 40. It's a 40 Watt combo 2 X EL34, 1 X 12, Closed Back. The clean channel is very clean, but only has one "tone" knob so you can't do much tone shaping whith that. It works well with outboard processors though. It sounds great with my Pod XT and Steel. The other ...

Manual says the volume is controlled by the device that's plugged into it. I pluged my ipod into it and it was scary loud. I always remember to check the volume now. :whoa:

Try the "Dyna Amp" setting for the amp model. I think it is supposed to be better for picking dynamics.
