"Evening In The Islands"

I'm looking for a TAB of "Evening In The Islands"... ...something like Jerry Byrd's version on Byrd of Paradise.

Or if you just have a chord progression, that would also be helpful.

Thanks!

Stew-Mac. Definitely.

I had the same question about my National T8...

Replaced the buttons, worked perfectly. It was cheap.

I bought the white buttons. They were a little too *new* looking, but they're wearing in.

What's this Ricky Silver Hawaiian/amp combo worth?

There's a Model 100 Silver Hawaiian (I think) steel & amp combo in a local store. Not sure what year. Good shape. Looks exactly like the combo in this image...

Image

Just wondering what it's worth.

Thanks.

Definitely a good time.

Scotty and his 1932 Fry Pan were the highlight for me. That, and *not* running out of gas on the way home. That was a close one.

There was some serious monster playing going on that night. I think Jernigan and Bob Taillefer are aliens. Or robots. Maybe both.

Now, how do you pull the string a full step without crashing into the next string if your string spacing won't allow it?

By the time I've pulled up a full step, the neighbouring string has already bent a quarter tone or more, so even if the bend is accurate, the whole thing sounds out of tune.

Any more examples like those ones would be super handy and appreciated.

For those who don't know... http://www.presonus.com/firepod.html

These are great looking units. If you've got a fairly new and fast computer (I don't), this would probably cover all your recording ambitions for years.

Laney amp for lap steel?

Does anyone have experience using a Laney VC-30 (2x10" or 1x12") with lap steel?

They're 30-watt Class A amps that seem quite good. At least for guitar.

Wondering if they have that Vox-ish/Top Hat-ish mid-range that sounds a little weird with steel.

Digital sustain on a lap?

I interested in the Hilton Digital Sustain box, which seems ubiquitous among peddlers.

Who uses this on their non-pedal?

Does anyone have a pair of MP3 clips from a steel playing with/without the sustain?

Well, I bought a Samick soprano UK70 for $100 Canadian. Solid and weighty little guy, abalone trim, nice round tone.

Thanks so far, everyone.

Are the standard tunings different for different sizes of ukulele?

The other thing she would need is a chord book, etc., so I don't want to give her the equivalent of an E13th neck with no instructional support.

I want to buy a ukelele for my girlfriend-- nothing fancy, just one of those Mahalos that seem to be everywhere.

I like the baritone ukes, but would there be a downside to gettng a baritone?

His forward slant is similar to the JB technique. On the reverse slant he's pivoting from the wrist. Ouch. With a Stevens-style dobro bar, that makes sense for fast reverse-slanting, but still... ow. The last time I tried a forward slant with a Lap Dawg bar in a music store, the bar flew out of my h...
