Jeff Newman switched me to 12 g. Like the tone better. As for breakage I rigged a little counter to the guitar for a while with both 11 and 12 strings. There is no appreciable difference in the # of bends befor breakage. They both break between 950 and 975 bends. Did this on an Emmons LII, D-10

I have both albums and they are great. The steel break on "Waltz of the Wind" is one of the prettiest I have ever heard.

Help on "Houston"

I need some tabs for the Gatlin's "Houston".
I can do it just fine on E9 but would rather do it on C6 since it was done that way on the alubm and I think it sounds better. My band is backing up two of the brothers for a golf gala at the end of September. Help appreciated in advance.

The minors are also called "relative minors." They are related 2 notes back of one of the majors. ie. 1(8) major--6 minor, 4 major--2 minor, 5 major--3 minor.
They can also be found at the position of the relative 7th chord by omitting the 7th note.

Just as in sports, fundamentals count. The best way to avoid bad habits is to learn fundamentals correctly to begin with. If you develope a bad habit which feels "natural" you will revert to it when the going gets tough. My advice it to get good instruction in person or on video (ie Jeff's...

Check out Dwight Yoakum's new album for 2000. He has put steel back in his music and has some really good stuff.

Caught this show and it had great steel. Most they've had for a time. The guy who played behind Stonewall was great and Tommy White played fantastically behind Jeannie.

Last summer I attended a wedding reception that had a great "rock/beach" band. I learned a lot from them. The crowd was mixed with people of all ages. I'm not much of a listener of rock or beach music, but I knew every song they played, and so did most of the crowd. They didn't play a new ...

Hag's Special

Watched Hag's special on TNN last night. All in all I thought the show was good. However, I sat there all night waiting for "Guess I'll Just Sit Here and Drink" because of Norm's killer riff. Guess what? No Norm riff, two sax riffs and guitar and some stupid mini guitar, but not Norm. P***...
