Well,topic has run for a while and no one else has come close so, unless you know different I would say that.
Bernard Mills from Litchfield Midlands UK at 101 years old is the oldest living and playing steel player.

Thanks for the input guys, getting close but no cigar.....

I wonder in the rest of the world if there is anyone older playing?
Bernard still has long vision but cannot see much close up, he is not computer or smart phone savvy but quite lucid in conversation and still loves his steel.

I ask as we have in the UK a gent who is 101 years young and plays a LeGrande he has played from music all his life but not tab.

have just gutted this little guitar, cleaned it up and re-rodded it plus changed the set up, has it ever repaid me for the TLC! It rings like a bell, pedal action is soft and light and so very fast, tuning is easy and spot on and I believe it to be a very special one of a kind guitar probably a sale...

Thanks for the reply Jon, I am having trouble getting enough lower on my 3rd C6 neck, not sure if its the wear in transmission or if the extra bits have anything to do with it, I may remove those parts and see how well it works without...... I have never before seen an elevated ashtray mounted in this way must be the last before the Gumby headstock.
The guitar is so positive to play hardly any movement required to make the changes ....it just needs to be "Day" set up to make it perfect.

I met Chick at the Hummingbird jam in 2006 such a nice man he sent me pictures of his push pull crank mods, if I remember he had just past his bar exam ? And flew jets, a real interesting guy happy to share his time .

Thanks for the reply Paul, I was lucky enough to meet Bobby at a gig in Texas and both Randy and Jim Loessburg took a turn on steel that night it really made my trip to the US to see them but, the video link shows a different venue/festaval and you dont even get a look at the steel player I just won...
