I'm sure that Tyler is filling the seat well! Pedal Steel / Dobro / "lap" or standing Steel. I enjoyed my 7.5 years there very much. Steve Hinson, you sure played some wonderful parts in those songs. Russ Pahl, added some great new textures to the latest hit. Great music. Go see and hear T...

I had that experience one time during a Josh Turner show (actually was saved by being able to throw it in parallel from the Stereo Steel - dry as a bone... long night!), and I solved it by throwing it away and buying a Lexicon MX200 the next day! I loved how it sounded, but life is too short to trus...

It's my main rig. Care has to be taken with input level, since most pedal steel pickups are hotter than a guitar pickup. I use this to manage it, and as a tuner out: https://www.guitarpartsfactory.us/023-4530-000-Genuine-Fender-Level-Set-Buffer-Guitar-Effects-Pedal-0234530000 I've even gone so far a...

Guy from Ohio, Conway Turley. I have talked with him via Facebook, but never met him or even knew he played steel. I've heard his guitar and banjo playing, and he's very talented.

Glad that Joe is still employing Pedal Steel in his band!

It was! An incredible honor... Thank you for listening, and for the record: My MSA Legend, '64 hand-wired Princeton, it's reverb, and a touch of delay from my HX Stomp. "Dobro" was my Gretsch Bobtail Resonator, with an Impulse Response I created from my ToneDexter, but run from my HX Stomp...

I've used one for about 18 months, and it's great. It's been perfectly reliable, lightweight, tons of power, and to my ears - feels and sounds like a Twin Reverb. Modeling and computer power has never been more advanced. All that said, I doubt it will last 60+ years like some tube amps do... but whe...

My Dad had his own guitar store / teaching studio, and at the end of every teaching night, he would sit down and unwind on his '77 MSA Classic. In 1984, as I was staring at him playing, he asked, "Hey, do you want to learn to play this thing?" Skaggs was all over the radio, so Bruce Bouton...

I've run the JD Aura pedal into several different DIs, when I used one. I'm not familiar with the "Red-Eye", but I can't imagine there would be any problem.

Hopefully someone can chime in that has used the Red-Eye.

Sincerely,

I've used several things through the years to give me more headroom through modelers. This is what I use now. I turn the level down all the way (-12dB), and with a tuner output, it serves a dual purpose for me. My wife's company carries them: https://www.guitarpartsfactory.us/023-4530-000-Genuine-Fe...

The controls are mounted to the circuit board, so any physical "hit" runs a good chance of breaking the solder joints or the board. I had it happen twice on the road to the blend control.

Poor design, but what isn't these days?

It's been a time of re-invention for me, for sure. I'm back in a local/regional market, so I'm working up a Vocal/Acoustic/Solo set, and trying to find the right couple of gigs that allow me the sideman / steel satisfaction. Like anything in life, it's all about bringing the right attitude and work ...

Thank you Mark! I left the road last year during covid, and our son starting Kindergarten. Best decision for our family life. I put George L E-66s in my Dad's 1977 D-10 Classic, at the advice of Jack Hearn, and they were a great improvement for me. I liked them so much that I switched my Sierra S-10 to one, and also had them in my 2000 Carter. I did opt for 705 pickups in my new MSA Legend, but it's hard for me to say how ...

I used to run a stereo rig all of the time, and sent a dry signal to one amp, and the mixed signal to the other. When I run direct, it is usually stereo, but I will use ping-pong style delays in most cases there. I guess I have learned that I had to be more mono-compatible, because you never know ho...
