I recently bought a used Eastman archtop with a floating pickup on Ebay. It came with electric guitar strings of a lighter gauge than I have played. I am about to change strings and am wondering whether most people use electric guitar strings or acoustic guitar strings with this type guitar/pickup. ...

I think Mike lives in Springdale, Arkansas (AR). Look for recent the SSSGA posts in the Events and Announcements section of the Forum. SSSGA stands for Siloam Springs Steel Guitar Association. Siloam Springs is near Springdale. I met Mike at an SSSGA convention a few years ago. Someone in the SSSSGA...

Music in Nashville Thursday and Friday nights
I will be in Nashville Thursday and Friday nights. What recommendations can you give me?
We could not get in the Bluebird Friday night.
Would like to hear good country or bluegrass.
Thanks.

Jack Harper and Billy Henderson -- my thanks to you guys for arranging and hosting such a great show. All the steelers sounded great. Of course, Jerry and Austin can't be beat. I also enjoyed hearing Dan Rollans for the first time. Dan, you played a great set! And Wayne Cox put in a fine and distinc...

Thanks for the reply, Paul. Sorry to be so long in responding. I have been out of state. The person who quoted the lyric to me said it was written by Johnny Cash, but I have never seen it on any of his albums. You have given me a new trail to follow by your mention of the Happy Goodman Family. Thank...

Over the Next Hill
Many years ago, I heard the following lyric quoted. I have always loved these lines, but I don't know any more about the song than just these lines. Can any of you help me as to who wrote it, who sang it, where I might get it? "By the way the land is layin' I guess I'd be safe in sayin' That Ov...

Funny -- What Supro is not!
Here's a true story that only a musician would appreciate: Some of you may have seen my listing to sell an 8-string Supro. My wife spent a little while earlier tonight deleting old e-mails. I was in the next room playing pool with my son when she exclaimed, "Woops! I just deleted one of your st...

8-string Supro with Whaley Royce bar
For sale: 8-string Supro steel with three telescoping legs. $475.00 plus shipping. Black and white, art deco motif. Probably built in the early sixties, but I don't really know. Good apprearance and in good working order. A little noise in the pots as they are turned. Volume and tone controls. Very ...
