David,

If you come to Myrtle Beach, I'm at the Carolina Opry. You can play my '06 Zum hybrid, and compare it with my '67 PushPull and my '74 Pushpull. Also, my wife has a Legrande III. I'd love to get together with you.

Regardless of the fact that I don't personally enjoy what Robert Randolph does, especially compared to top notch rock and roll guitar players, it's great to see him having success with his act. But, let's be honest, he's not getting TV spots because of the level of his playing or musicianship, he's ...

I have what I believe is the Pedabro that formerly belonged to Carson Chamberlain. At least, the young man (from Kentucky) that I bought it from in 1995 said he bought it from Keith Whitley's steel player shortly after Keith's death. It is #003 and it does have the steel guitar neck on the back. Hea...

I got the new Pandora PX-4 specifically to use as a practice device, and it definitely has enough volume to drive my headphones, but I'm using Sony MDR-7506 phones (about $100), I think they're fairly common studio headphones. While most of the presets are overdriven, there is a decent sound to be g...

Ben,
Thanks for the kind words. I really enjoyed meeting you. It's always nice to get to talk to another steel player, we don't get all that many at the theatre. Just wish you had brought that push-pull to leave with me for awhile.

Oddly enough, Vince Gill did play pedal steel for a very short time with Boone Creek. They started out to be a very progressive acoustic band, as their first album included drums, probably an attempt to be radio-friendly. But, they soon settled on a much more traditional approach, but with a more mod...
