Ok, I can see the 4 now... It is good shape. Bill Rudolph of Williams guitar tuned it up maybe a couple years ago and he also had a brand new hard case made for it custom. The original case had started falling apart. Plays good. I just never used it much since I bought my U-12 from Albert Svendall a...

Returning Member - question about my Sho-Buds age and value

Returning after a long hiatus. I have not used my old Sho-Bud in a long time, and would like to know if anyone can educate me on it a bit. It is a model I think is called The Professional, serial number is <668> correction 4668. I bought it in 1986. It is a D-10 with 8 pedals/4levers and has the bar...

Guess the steel player

I found this on youtube, I remember seeing this when I was a little kid - maybe this is what began conditioning me to take up steel ten years later. My first guess was JD, due to the style and the TV show connection, but I think Sesame street was produced in New York back then, so I'm not so sure. G...

I'm trying to avoid half-stops. If I must, I must, but I don't like the soft feel.

Input on my Copedant?? Thanks.

I'm only going to post the knee levers. Pedals are standard A/B/C, P4 is 5&6 up 1 full tone, P5 is the 'Franklin' pedal.

Set up for extended E9.

LKL - F Lever
Vert - 1st F#-G#, 6th G#-G
LKR - 2nd D-C#, 6th G#-B, 9th D-C#

RKL - E-Eb Lever
RKR - 2nd Eb-E, 6th G#-F#

The way the still was mixed on that record sounded way different than a lot of other Jay Dee stuff. The tone was more reminiscent of Lloyd Green, even though I doubt it was Lloyd. One track had some fast picking, that sounded more like Jay Dee, but the other tracks were a not the typical Jay Dee Hot...

Country Drum Loops

I just started using Guitar Tracks Pro (Cakewalk) and I'd like to know if anyone has any god drum loops in acid format for country. Train beats, shuffles, etc.

Any help or info would be appreciated - Im very new at this.

Started at age 17 in 1986, when i was a junior in high school. Ricky Skaggs Highways & Heartaches album, 7 Year Ache, Bellamy Bros. Whistlin, Dixie. That's what did it. Saved up for two years and in 1986 I bought a Sho-Bud D-10. (The old one with the barrel tuners). Played in a hillbillyish sort...

Wait a minute - there should only be three augmented chords?

I.e.: Start with an E, add a G# (two full steps), add a C (two more full steps). Two more full steps goes back to E.

Am I right?

As far as the pedals go, there are a couple of companies that make a paint-like non-slip coating that has a rubber base. It ends up looking like black paint with sand in it.
Otherwise, I'd just take coarse sandpaper to the pedals.

When steel players discuss a particular player's 'tone', I would be interested in knowing whether they are referring to the musician's LIVE or RECORDED sound. I recently played on a friend's CD in a fairly low-budget analog studio. Nothing special in the way of steel parts, either. When I heard the...
