I could easily build what is being described but 3 rows of polepieces with 8-32 poles and normal sized bobbins will not fit within the 1.83 inch dimension of the standard wide mount base, and of course you would also have to move the mounting holes. I just did a very quick mockup from one of my 3D m...

Since GL has transitioned out of the pickup business and the availabilty has dwindled, I went ahead and analyzed the magnetic and electrical characteristics of the GL line and can build duplicates of any of the models. My versions will be constructed with 3D print plastic parts rather than the injec...

Jeff, if you interested in trying it but cannot get the gripper made locally, I use a lot of 3D prints for pickup parts and could get it printed for you for a small forum donation.

A lot of good suggestions above but one has not been brought up yet except indirectly by Ken Metcalf. A Truetone at 19 K should give a fairly dark tone in that it will be quite rolled off by 4-5 kHz, but if loaded with a high parallel resistance it will have a tall peak at 1.5-2 kHZ since thats wher...

I have had knee levers that I had to add a ground wire to prevent static electricity buildup and noise through the pickup. Seems like a long shot to me but you could have a variation of this going on. When you are hooked right to the pickup you have a low resistance path for DC through the pickup. W...

I have a walnut Ripple in long scale, and the tone and sustain are great. It sustains as long as or maybe longer than my frypan, that is completely different construction of course but those are known for long sustain.

Yes you can mount them with the velcro wherever you want on the fretboard, this customer just likes them as shown.

Yes Steve that would be correct, the outer can on twist locks is the same as the negative terminal on a screw. See the pic with the added white line.

The screw type caps (obviously this one is a different value) as in this pic will work fine and they make the clamp to hold them as shown, you would just drill 2 small holes for the clamp, and then make up 2 wire plus eyelet terminals to mount to the screws on the cap. https://bb.steelguitarforum.co...

I have built several of these, for example see pic below. These mount with velcro or command strips. It is a cool tone, but I would say the tone difference doesn't work the exactly same as on a 6 string guitar neck to bridge pickup due to typical steel construction and the fact of bar vs frets. http...

Also note the IVmin position with this change gives a convenient I7 position if you move up two frets. Example, G7 chord / scale at the 5th fret. I have a single coil model to fit the Stage One, it is the same outline as the stock pickup, but it requires drilling 4 new holes and then mounting the pickup with foam ala the p bass. If your Leslie pedal has a CV expression pedal input, you can use a few resistors and a switch to duplicate two treadle positions of an expression pedal. You can also add a capacitor to create a ramp when switching speeds. Here is one I built for a Source Audio pedal https://www.thegearpage.net/boar...

If you do not come up with the replacement slide pots, here is what I did to mine. Converted to standard pots by using a rectangular 16 ga steel plate painted black and then 4 screws at the corners to hold it in place.

I am wondering since the Sierra is extrusions that bolt together if continuity in the endplate will factor into the body rigidity and therefore cabinet drop.

If you got the endplate off a skilled machinist and welder could patch in the missing aluminum but might be expensive.
