Marc, excellent performance, recording, and mixing. Back in the day, I wasn't really a GD fan, I was more a fan of Dylan, the Band, the Byrds, Jesse Colin Young, etc. But thanks to YouTube clips, I've developed an appreciation for the Dead and its offshoots. In some of the early clips, the Dead's vo...

I use the polytune clip from T.C. Electronic. I don't clip it, just place it on the deck of my steel beside the keys. Works well.

Little Pete from the Dillards' Wheatstraw Suite LP features Rodney Dillard on steel playing some basic fills and even a brief solo towards the end. Back in the day I was a bluegrass picker and hadn't heard much pedal steel so this track really caught my ear at the time. https://www.youtube.com/watch...

I'm not sure if anybody has posted a link to this cover of a Sheryl Crow song by Dan Baker with some nice steel on it. In any case, here it is.

I could not tune in during that weekend. There is some excellent playing in that two hour video.

Thanks again!

You would have to ask Scott Finch about his build, I just posted the link. But definitely a unique project.

Pedal Steel Build and Play

Scott Finch built his own pedal steel using pulleys and ropes instead of rods. Doesn't list his copedent. Plays his version of the Tennessee Waltz.

Kiyoshi Lion Kobayashi is in the video at the link below [at 57:58] explaining his Excel no pedal all lever guitar, 9 levers on a 10 string. His copedent is shown [at 100:09]. He then proceeds to demonstrate some fine playing...at 89 years of age. Hope for a youngster like me at 77. https://www.yout...

The first real attention I paid to pedal steel guitar was to Sneaky Pete Kleinow's work in Christine's Tune on the first Flying Burritos recording. The combination of the singers, the song, and the way the steel fills and solos all came together really defined what would come to be known as country ...
