I wonder if head on your guitar is slightly different than mine. Curious about the strings breaking while tuning up. Is your guitar a regular scale or long scale? I've heard of people having them break on the 25.5" guitars like mine, but I haven't experienced that personally. I use a D tuning t...

Interesting to read that their 2007 record is now considered by lots to be one of their best. That one didn't capture me in the moment the way City of Evil did, but maybe its worth revisiting. Greg Leisz's playing on "Dear God" is really great.

The latest ones all the tuning happens on the changer side. The strings themselves go through the nut at the head of the guitar. Tuning the open strings is done from the first horizontal row of tuners just under where the strings attach. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/21077_PXL_20230810...

It'll come! I've only been playing a few years now but I'm happily in D13 land. It was a combination of Buddy's E13 post and Johnny's worth honing on on the D13 changes that convinced me that it was for me. Did about a year of 10 str E9 then moved to a modified 10 str D13, no low root and no string ...

I play a 25.5" scale in a D tuning mainly. One disadvantage is that if you don't adjust the string gauge the string tension can get too tight to play comfortably. Also probably subjectively I think when the tension is too tight your tone and expression suffers. A lighter tension feels more lose...

Very similar but probably much higher quality than your last one the UAD-volt 2 might fit the bill. The scarlett solo 3rd gen would also be a good option and a bit cheaper than the UAD.

Can't say for sure but because I'm not paul but according to the copedent chart he shares in his course he only uses compensators on his E9. I don't think you get the same issues on C6 that people solve with compensators. Mainly is the F# in tune against the B or against the C#. I'd love to know if ...

I coped Johnny Cox's idea (and I'm sure others) of having a C on string 2 instead of C#, but in lieu of that does you get mostly what you want with a C# -> C change on your string 2?

That said I do think I'd like a B -> C on a lever if I had more room.

Also D13 a player here. I have my A pedal with the extra B -> C raise on it. I find the C is really nice to have with AB down. My C pedal doesn't have the extra raise and I notice the sympathetic ring if I'm pick blocking, but it's less of an issue if I'm palm blocking everything.

Glad to hear Mitsuo is responsive to emails again. My ordering experience and communication with Fuzzy was great. Mine has gotten scratched up over the years so it's much louder on the strings now. Still really like the tone though and the noise isn't worse than my metal bars. It's very different than my eezzee slide. I know I should be able polish back to new, but after an hour or two of tv with some autosol a...

How did you arrive at the reentrant f? My pedal steel setup is pretty complex but I often jump back to a 3x3 E9 and there is something beautiful about how it has just enough to do pretty much anything. I say play what feels good, I'm sure a plain open D has a similar simple beauty that I don't get y...

I was recently playing around with these two variants on a 6th tuning the first is very close to the one Mike Neer suggested but I raise the G: G# A# C# E F# A C# If I'm playing A6 or F#7 depending on what is more convenient for what I want to play. The reason I added G# was to get a nice low A#ø7 o...

I install a multibender on a guitar a few years ago. It can definitely do slow bends no problem. Check out Luke Cyrus Goetze on youtube for some great playing with one. I don't really know why you'd want to use the bender to get vibrato when you can do that with your bar, but... I guess it could? It...

Cheap and light - the Traynor SB110, SB112, or SB115 (depending on what speaker size you like) punch way outside their price point imo. I've often preferred my SB112 to amps costing 3 or 4 times as much.

I thought the same thing when you made this post. You'd have to choose which split is tune tho correct? String 11 could either split p3 + p4 to Bb or split p3 + RKR to A. Maybe you could get both with some fancy rodding?

On your D13 copedent when you get it you can also get the same 4 over 5 voicing with the A + B pedals if you think of the C as the root:

D13 W/A+B
E
C
G
D
C
B
G
E
D
C
B
D

Gives you D C E G and a few other variations depending on what string set you grab :D

For E9 playing a lever that raises string 1 to G# and string 2 to E is very nice. I've been using that with the C + B pedals a lot. The G# -> G lower seems kinda redundant on a E9/B6 universal because you have a very similar change already on your P6 if you are thinking in B6 mode.

I ran back to the studio tonight to test with my Clinesmith again. I'd describe it as a bit brighter and more direct sounding than the Eezzee, but it definitely scrapes the strings more than the Eezzee. I don't recall Clinesmith being scratchy at all when I first got it so maybe there is some polish...
