Just got my shipping notification from Mullen on my Discovery I ordered through Gary. Gary was a massive help in understanding the customization options available to me in the ordering process, and I would recommend ordering a Mullen through him to anybody interested. Thanks, Gary!

Bmi 3x2 S10 - $1100 SOLD

Hi there! Putting out a feeler sell offer for my BMI 3X2 S10. I bought this from Mike DiAlesandro of Steel Guitar of Ohio earlier this year to help me get back into steel. It has served me well and I am considering moving on to something else, so not necessarily in a hurry to sell. Setup is standard...

I have had the chance to play BMI guitars, and I like them, but understand what you are saying.. I never really "bonded" with them.. For the price [or less] of a good Bud, I would look at Carter, Desert Rose, Justice, Fessenden, and other more modern brands in a clean used guitar... The m...

BMI was my first steel -- 3+2 that I upgraded to 3+4 a few years later. I consider myself lucky to have had my start with this steel vs. a student model. Still have it. That said, it's not my jam. I totally get wanting a different guitar. If you have the desire and the means to get one, Jason, ther...

I saw that! Beautiful steel, the 2” lift may be a bit too tall for me though. I have it on my radar for sure. Thanks for posting!

Sounds to me like you are kind of set on a sho bud.. They are good guitars, but for the kind of money a good one brings, there are better options mechanically... It all depends on what you want... I love an old Bud as much as the next steel guy, but more modern designs are simply more reliable day ...

I appreciate the suggestions to upgrade the BMI. The BMI is a fine steel, and has served me well, but the placement of the pedals (closer to the center of the steel itself due to the 3x2 configuration) causes me some left foot discomfort while playing. Had it for most of this year and was hoping it ...

Serial number indicates '76 or '77 (from a chronological database, not from 'reading the code'). To my eyes, RKL hardware is period correct, matching the pedals, except for the lever itself. At first glance I was going to call LKL semi-original but with different bellcranks and some hand made parts...

The first thing that caught my eye when I looked at the under hood pictures. There are 2 different types of Bell Cranks/Attachment of Pull Rod systems in the guitar. It looks the guitar was born a 3 pedal steel, And the knee levers was added later. Is that a Serial Number on the pedal side, End Pla...

Thanks for the input; that’s good to know. I’m going to think on it for a day or two and then see if the price can lowered at all.

It's a bit of a hodge-podge of transitional pre Super Pro hardware, Super Pro stuff and home made parts. I see nothing 'red flag'ish unless the person were claiming any kind of originality. Then you'd be dealing with a fraudster. I'm so-so about the price. I could go either way -- that you could/sh...

Sho Bud local to me - need help

Hi, all! I am considering buying a Sho Bud that popped up local to me, but need some help. I don’t know much about Buds and am still a novice player overall. I have attached the pictures, it looks like a Emmons setup from what I can tell but the guy is not very knowledgeable and can’t answer questio...

Well the good news is that the LKL already raises the 8 string E. Now I just need to change it to raise the 4 string E instead of lower the 2nd string. I've never done this before, but it looks like I would have to move this metal piece to the 4th string slot, and rod it in the same spot as the 8th ...

Changing LKL so that it raises the E's would be simple. The biggest caution is to be sure that the pedal rods do not interfere with or rub the rods of LKR or the C pedal. If it means changing the position of a puller or bending a rod, so be it. My slightly later model BMI is fairly sensitive to add...

New steel day! BMI 3x2, serial #004

Hello all! I got into steel a couple years back, and ended up selling my rig because I felt discouraged with my progress. I’ve missed and regretted it ever since, so happy to say today is delivery day for my new steel! A BMI early serial #004 from Mike at Steel Guitars of Ohio. 3 pedals, 2 knees. Th...

Can you help me understand the return spring issue and how hard it is to correct? I used to own a Stage One and have been craving a steel again, but don’t know much mechanically. 3x2 would be perfect, but unsure about the springs.
