The only person I am aware of who possibly used a re-entrant string stylistically is Freddie Roulette. Otherwise, I completely agree with Mr. Ellis. It is just a way of organizing strings, either to keep a string out of the way or to facilitate alternate picking for speed.

Re: How many players use Jules Ah See C13?

... In case you’re not sure, Jules Ah See C13 is an 8 string tuning. E C A G E C Bb C What gauge are folks using for the low C (22.5 scale)? My new (to me) Melbert can just barely handle a 060, but John Ely's chart suggests 068. I've been using a 056 just because I had one on hand, but the slightes...

I had it on a Fender 400 for quite awhile last year. I like to use it when I have to play horn lines. I would gladly put it back on.

I’m completely lost. I love the way it sounds when someone that knows that tuning is playing it! 😂

I put this on an armpit guitar to fool around with because it can be done with a standard set of strings. I could not play lines at all, but I could comp great sounding jazz chords almost instantly.

I've pretty much stopped playing 10-string, but here's my 8-string setup: https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2203/7614_PXL_20211031_201909984_1.jpg I would miss the C# to D raise as the flat seventh of the E chord on your A6 neck. Awesome that you are playing Mooney’s E9 on a Fender 1000. Total...

Thanks bOb! I will clean up my enharmonic equivalents. I am going to add the pluses and minus you use as well. I couldn't get enough travel in my Fender 400 to get the 3 semitone lower. It was fun to try though.

Micro Universal Copedent

The great Lew Houston's D9 is a micro universal copedent that overcomes single raise/single lower. It has four pedals and no knee levers. It did not make sense to me until I transposed the top half into E and the bottom half into C. It needs to be played with two feet. https://bb.steelguitarforum.co...

Simple C6

This was my eureka moment for understanding what was going on. The pedal 5 D chord is rootless. I often combine pedal 8 with the knee lever for an A9 chord. I also often pull behind the bar to get some moves that are missing

On a four pedal long-scale I prefer C6 with pedals 8,5,6,7 or Sneaky Pete pedals 2,3,8,7
