Front mounted jacks wouldn't bother me in the least, since I always keep the pedal several inches back from the pedal board. The further forward you have the volume pedal, the more your knee moves when you work the pedal! ;-) Thanks, Donny. BTW, how tall are you? Will that make a difference in VP p...

I have Goodrich and other PSG oriented VPs, but prefer cheap BOSS FV50L VPs and angled jacks for a number of reasons.
Wow, thanks Georg. $50 for the FVP-1.

Larry Dering wrote:Rick, good move. I have used the Ernie Ball pedals in the same manner with no issues. I do prefer the Goodrich volume pedal overall because I'm used to it.
Thanks, Larry. I look to get a different pedal in the future but right now I'm in the hibernation learning stage.

Temporarily Solved Volume Pedal Dilemma - Just FYI

Newbie to PSG and don't want to initially go down the equivalent of my electric guitar GAS rabbit hole. (I'm a pro there.) Have a Fender FVP-1, good volume pedal but front-mounted jacks. I had some George L's 90 deg jacks/cables around and hooked them up to my Justice Jr/FVP-1. Now, I know it's not ...

Thanks, guys. I love it. Played a couple of hours this afternoon. Initially, just to work the pedals, KLs, hold the bar etc. Then I played along with some simple tunes I've played for years on 6-string - Troubadour, Cowboy Rides Away, How I got to Memphis, Too Cold at Home. Man was that fun! Forced ...

Thanks, Wes. Did Ron build yours? He's been great to deal with in getting mine built.

You should be thrilled. This is a very well made instrument. I have ShoBud, Fender and EXCEL steels but ordered a S10 Jr. with just 2+1 to experiment with a VERY basic setup. I love it! Ron and Fred were great to deal with and their build time was very fast. I put on a 2nd knee lever and may add mo...

Probably be fine. The biggest issue is the jacks are on the front of the pedal. You just have to arrange the cables so they don't interfere. Not having any experience at all with these, I can't evaluate the taper. It needs to be a fairly smooth transition from off to on without any sudden jumps or ...

Fender FVP-1 Volume Pedal for PSG

Waiting on my Justice S-10 Jr and have a question. I have a Fender FVP-1 volume pedal (250k pot) that I bought to use with 6-string. Never used it - just not needed. My question is: is it good enough to get started with? The whole rig will sit in my practice room until I'm good enough to play at jam...

Prior to arrival of your pedal steel, I agree on practicing on a Dobro style guitar. That will help you practice putting proper pressure on the bar, and 'string attack' with your picks I retuned an acoustic to open G and started working with it. I'm waiting on a tone bar to use in place of my 6-str...
