Peavey tube sweetener

This is a one space rack unit, 2 channel stereo, in excellent condition. Very low hours on the 3 12AX7 tubes. This unit adds a subtle warmth to a solid state amp. I have seen these units go for $300 used. I am asking $160 which includes shipping to the lower 48's. Mike Winfield mikewfairhaven@aol.co...

Aaron, I have used a Fender Pro 400 combo bass amp for steel. It has 2 10"s and a tweeter and 350 watts. It is SUPER clean and sounds good (not great)for steel when used alone but when I run my Nashville 1000 along with it, it sounds fantastic. One bit of advice, to get a good steel sound, turn ...

Bob Lucier Music Co.?

I have a Sho-bud LDG, 3 and 5. On the underside it has a sticker that reads Bob Lucier Music Co. Missisauga, Ont., 1983. I believe that they added the left vertical knee on the guitar because it is not original. Any of you old Canadian steelers know anything about this store or this instrument? Than...

Bob,
In my area, most everyone uses Electronic Innovations for repairs. They are in Warren, MI.
The phone # 586-758-6157. They just did a complete overhaul on my Roland Jazz Chorus and did a nice job. Hope this helps.

Larry,
I have a DTR-1 and Ron's suggestion of running a chord from the second output of your volume pedal is the way to go.

I have been having trouble keeping my Bud LDG in tune and I suspect the old Grover tuners. Stew-mac has the new Grover locking tuners which are 18:1 ratios that automatically lock the post without an external knob.Anyone had any experience with these tuners?

Lawrence,
One of my favorites is "The Key" CD by Vince Gill. John Hughey plays some really tasty stuff and two of the songs (Don't Come Crying To Me and Kindly Keep It Country) are tabbed out on Ricky Davis' Rebel Steel site.Lots of fun to learn and play along with.

MXR Analog Delay

I was cleaning out my music room and I found an old MXR delay unit that I used to use with my electric 6-string rig many (15?) years ago. I plugged it into my steel rig in place and WOW! It sounds much warmer and fuller than my Lexicon MPX-100. I haven't used it on stage yet but it sure does sound g...

Emminence speaker ?

My Roland Jazz Chorus 120 is in for repair and the serviceman told me that the both of the EV 12" SRO's need to be reconed at a cost of $150 each. Rather than having these reconed, I am considering putting in a pair of emminance speakers because of the price and the weight of these speakers(the...

There is a lick that begins at 0:38 that I can't figure out. It is a chord walk down to the B-flat chord. I would appreciate any help you guys could give me.

Niklas,
You should try some of Jeff Newman's materials. If you want to learn some standard steel songs, the "Just Jammin" cd and tab is great. You can find this at Jeff's web site, jeffran.com
Good luck

Another option is a Black Widow from Liberty Guitars. I bought mine on e-bay for $300. I put a bone nut and an ebony saddle on it. The stock cone was fine. Sounds great and is fun to play.

Help With Reso

Just got a new Liberty Black Widow reso.Nice guitar for under $300. The tone is warm and evenly balanced but I'd like to have it just a bit brighter and increase the sustain. I'm using "E" tuning with Pearse medium bronze strings. It has a plastic nut, birch saddle, and a spun cone(not a Q...
