This is in my backyard, I planted it maybe 17 years ago. Not even close can I get my arms around it. Grows so fast, water sprouts can reach 12' in a year. Kids had a swing on it but I'm not crazy about the tree. I wonder if the size is big enough to make instruments from. Interesting facts regarding...

Been to China twice, bought several instruments, really researched about them (I know it's not China) but never ever seen that!! And of course it's a thousand years old!

Really cool stuff, thank you for sharing. And I would suck at it just like harmonics on the PSG.

Doe-no-why... but I was just waiting for "Classical Gas" to break out at any moment. :-) Seriously, the playing technique and the feeling you put into your performance was very appealing. Good work! Yes me as well, as speaking of Classical Gas, watch this and be inspired: https://www.yout...

It's like having a 440 Charger but swapping a 318 because you don't want the power or want better fuel economy-doesn't make sense to me either.

Matthew I have a new Telonics pedal.

Once I got to a gig and realized I forgot the power.

I tried one of the plugs (9v) in my daisy chain that I use for all the other effects and it worked just fine, I did not notice any difference.

Am I missing something? Guitar scale is at least as long as PSG, right?

Are these meant for an archtop where the tailpiece is way below the saddle?

Came from Amazon a couple days ago, listening to it now. It's just like I expected. It will be a great learning tool for me as an early steel player. It's also great music as well. When Paul released the Bakersfield thing on MMM, I got it immediately and learned every bit of it. Tom can we expect hi...

Yes Bruce that's right you are there-you could probably pick it up (not the biggest state). I think it's just one guy, Tim, and he'll make it to your specs. Mine were well built, and well shipped, and I think reasonable when unfinished so I could Tolex them how I wanted. OK cool.

I've had a couple of custom cabinets built, reasonable I think and good quality. Just another one to consider.

I asked this once, and I may not remember exactly but I think Erv said Chrome plated bar with Nickel strings (which is what you have). And I do also. And it is when traveling downwards mostly. I'm not helping, but letting you know I suffer from this also. Playing something I hear in a recording that...

I have a GFI I play, U.S. Army property. But I wanted to buy a PSG for myself, something different, but not having played any other brand. Maybe two years ago I went to Billy Coopers and tried several used steels he had. A Mullen (PRP?) was the only one that really stood out in terms of tone and ped...

This topic is dear to me, as I suck as well. What about the left hand? When sliding a harmonic I always pick up sounds from other strings. Do you inherently pick up the bar and isolate the string every time? This is hard for me. Any pointers from folks who are good at this?

The NYXL Franklin set shows that it is .015 for string 4. It goes up a whole step no problem. I use those. I think in general you go as big as you can unless it breaks?

And, as you get more comfortable with the song, you are a compliment to the melody and rhythm. Don't play so much on the melody and on the beat, but answer them. Listen as much as you can to recordings with steel. Almost like a formula, they'll play in the holes and places between the lyrics. Thank ...

I'm relatively new at it still, I've had an Expo for around 5 years and recently got a G2 (but have not played a Discovery). My GFI plays and sounds great, stays in tune very well, and less cabinet drop than my Mullen (which isn't a big deal either). But the pedals on my Mullen G2 are much smoother,...

OK thanks much I'm glad there is a solution. New pull rod for each-10 and 5. My cat brain will eventually figure it out. I'll get minor chord with AB and LKV- the Franklin pull,-and I just learned a nice minor IV to I, using strings 9, 7, and 5 then resolving by using LKV and RKR. All in tune hopefu...

But then I lose the in tune note, using LKV by itself on 10 and 5. I can't have it all three ways?

A pedal and LKV split, and then the Franklin pedal problem

On my G2, I am figuring out how to do splits. I have the A pedal raise 10 and 5, and then the LKV brings it down a true half step (making the A&B pedals into a minor chord). But now the Franklin pedal won't bring 10 and 5 down a whole step, and I can see why looking from the top. And turning the...

My New G2

I thought I would share pics of my first steel I purchased. It sounds and plays great like I hoped it would. I selected and sent the wood for the aprons, maybe a one of a kind then. It's a 9 and 9. The pedals are very smooth and sensitive-I can't "ride the clutch" at all like my GFI. Hats ...

Here is mine, I just received this G2 D-10 about 3 weeks ago. I chose this because- It is standard Emmons, as I am used to that with a GFI I play. And a Franklin pedal at zero to try; either I will like it or make it do something else. And a staggered LKL because I've wanted to raise string 4 withou...
