It might just be me,but I think Mr.Emmons could play through a Gorilla bass amp and it still would sound good! I believe it's in his hands!

If any one listened to Eddie Stubbs last night ,he had Johnny Bush as a guest.Johnny made a good statement about new artists and how the sound is not the same as it used to be.(As we all know!!!!) He more or less stated that,It's more or less the young PRODUCERS that are creating the non-country sou...

I play bass as well as PSG,and the jazz quartet I play with was given a chart to play by the brides mother at a wedding gig we had a few years ago. This THING she wanted to hear was called "The Abba Dabba Honeymoon". All of the guests were singing this thing. Everything mentioned in this po...

On the WSM Online website,it clearly states;"Committed to Country! Always have been,Always will be".If the dumb#$$es at Gaylord make their changes, could we as country music fans bring up a law suit? I hope there is enough support for WSM's country format because, I think if it happens, cou...

I started getting interested in playing music by listening to my grandfather talk about his "nightclub"days.(He owned the old Wagon Wheel in Nashville. He also played sax....this was in the late '30s) My dad also plays music and was lucky enough to be an usher/vender at the Opry in the mid...

Are We In Danger?

While I struggled through listening to the CMA awards,I was in awe of a steeler in a band ( I can't remember who he was playing behind;or even if he was actually playing!)that was "dancing",so to speak, sitting behind his guitar! I can only speak for my self by saying I sit cold still while...

Back in the '60s,the Osborne Bros. used steel alot (Hal Rugg). That was part of their "signature sound". Remember that Rocky Top had steel all throughout.(A #1 bluegrass song in my part of the woods!)I understand that Sonny is a closet steeler.Check out the "Rubeeeeeeee" album. An ...

I know this has probably been covered before, but I want to know what it takes to get in the HOF. IMO,for what its worth,It's what you have acomplished for the furtherance and preservation of the instrument itself. ( This is taking for granted that the inductee is a pro player or at least some one in...

Not only is Herby a great player, but a great teacher as well! I owe my progress to him. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he have the first "Mass produced" tab instruction for Emmons Guitar back in the '60,s?

In my view,it is not the change of the music the Nashville people want as much as to obtain the all important " Kid Dollars". CMT is showing this this to us,not only by the obvious MTV style open forum show with the "Element Chart" initials and "Spinning Tinkertoys"!I k...

PSG is alive,as long as it's heard! We can expect people to be curious about it as long as it is being played in some type of format. I would rather hear more "In your Face" steel (ie.Dwight's "What do you know about love?)but "fills & pads" at least keep it in there! I ...

What we need for the masses is another Ricky Skaggs! Somebody that has respect for the standards and the drive to change things.Maybe Brad Paisley could do this for the young crowd as well as for the trad.lovers of country music.Twang with steel is country ; twang by itself is twang.
