Solder the black to the sleeve, and the green to the tip. Make sure the other two are insulated. I think i gotcha on this, the inside part is the sleeve( ground) and the outside part if the tip, ( red in the picture,) ill solder the green there then just throw a wire nut and tape off the other wire...

wiring a humbucker directly to jack,no tone or vol pots

so i recently purchased a homemade console lap steel, with a single single coil wiring directly tot he jack, no vol or tone pots which is fine because obviously i use a volume pedal anyway. Now unfortunately theres a touch more hum from the single coil than id prefer, so i purchased a single soil sp...

Lap steel open d player to 6 string 2 pedal lap steel? Maybe

Hello all, so i play lap steel in open D. 6 string. i have the opportunity to pick up a 6 string pedal steel with just 2 pedals, and no knee levers, ( i tried a carter starter once, it was too much for me, i dont want more pedals and levers) so my question is tuning. whats even close to open d in 6 ...

love th song sir, the music is superb and your playing especially, as usually is flawless. n going to be hoenst and say, not a fan of the vocalist, the style seemed like he was trying to be to much bon jovi and it made it sound like a bon jovi karaoke thing. but i loved everything else for sure.

That neck pickup looks like a Seymour Duncan Phat Cat to me. P90 type of thing, like Mr. Womack said. it definitely sounds like a p90, so you might be right on, this thing sounds superb, i definitely got my monies worth, hands down. heres what i just found when i pulled the pickups, https://bb.stee...

Re: I'm pretty sure about it.

Sorry to rain on your parade some, In the early 2000's I was in bed with China factories for about 12 years, and sold a few hundred of these and others of what you are calling Knockoff's. They are not. That shape is not an exclusive Asher design but a common shape that was flooded on the open marke...

Re: El Cheepo Import

That is an El Cheepo Asian Import. No where close to an Asher beyond the basic shape. it is weird that someone would take the time to do a knockoff of a lap steel , ive never seen a knockoff lap steel before. and i couldnt find one except for cheap rogues, on alieexpress or wish, seems weird especi...

Just adding a positve vote for the Certano benders. I have them on two lap steels and like them a lot. There is a learning curve for getting the hang of using the benders, blocking, and picking all at the same time but a bit of dedication overcomes those technical issues. Sorry to hear about your b...

Turning the winds on the tuners to wrap "over" may give you enough clearance. It looks like the wraps are "under" now. theyre actually locking tuners, so they arent wrapped just straight through and then the part thats through the hole is bent under on those two holes, if he wen...

I can certainly feel for you. How does the rest of the steel look overall? Are you happy with it? (the look, not the tuners, benders, and head) Maybe something can be salvaged from what you have? Did you contact the builder? Did you see any pictures of other steels he built with benders before you ...

If it’s just one string then maybe just the pole piece is weak. You could try adjusting it closer to the string. You have to be very careful with it. You can put a screwdriver in there but a lot of times they’re frozen and you just wind up breaking a chunk off. It takes careful disassembly and ...
