How do you like the Helix for pedal steel tone?

Has anybody used this device with their steel and if so how does it sound? Are there any issues?

Thank you for doing this all these years. I am a newbie and the discussions and answers to questions have been very helpful. Though the fancy bells and whistles may not be there, the discussions and experience of the members comes through loud and clear and that's what counts.

I have a Fessenden SD-10 and a Nashville 112 with a passive Goodrich volume pedal. I just find my tone is muddy no matter what knob twisting I do. I presently own a Fessenden SD-10 3 + 5 (Emmons copedent). It is sometimes a bit of a struggle to operate the levers on both legs and the same time as well as the LNV. LKL and RNR pedals seem to get bent. It seems the arc of my legs needs to be large to engage these levers but there is side pressure...

I am interested in buying the Williams D-10, 8+8, Keyless and would like to hear any thoughts on this instrument, good and bad. Since I do not live close to someone that can service this instrument it has to be solid mechanically and function reliably.

Hey Donny..I hear it when the volume is down..it is more pronounced on the wound strings and it occurs when I pick without the bar. It is more noticeable when more than one string is being played ... it is also audible on single strings, again particularly wound ones.

Thanks to everyone for offering different solutions. Someone told me that it could be the POT in the volume pedal. I lowered the pick up..it's better but it definitely sounds like there is something rattling / growling near the pick up when the volume is off. I have no idea what it could be. It soun...
