I played guitar in a country band in the Austin area, and we did a lot of old stuff, we had a steel player so I didn't play any steel I moved back to upstate NY. I got a chance to play steel in a band that does mostly new stuff. VERY different thing. As mentioned, you got to go out, where you are. W...

I am a guitar player by trade but I do play pedal steel. I am playing mainly pedal in a band right now. A couple of the songs don't have pedal on them but have slide guitar. Now, I am also bringing a guitar, and I can and do play slide in standard, but I'd want to use a dedicated slide guitar tuned ...

Having come from guitar and then lapsteel (C6th), I've been there. but as a guitar player who has played slide in open tunings, E9 is just open E and C6 is just open A up 3 frets. That is the root of the tunings, before they added all the other notes, in the way I look at it. I love C6 on both pedal...

Ya that's why it seems so weird to me too. I'm not sure why it was set up this way, I thought perhaps this is another way that is common, or just someone preferring it like that. I will see if I can set it up how it should be. Thanks for the reply. When I got my GFI, the guy before me had the E low...

Mine came with the Es on the left. The raise on the first two strings it didn't have.

I would sure check out the Mullen Discovery. All pro guitar single neck at an affordable price. I have a GFI Ultra and it is a good instrument. I play guitar in a band with a steel player (who is a much better steeler than I am). He has a Discovery for rehearsals, small gigs, etc. Now he plays Day ...

I'm using a Telonics on my Ultra. It had a Truetone when I got it. Both are really good.
