A few weeks ago I saw Paul and asked him about it. He said he will be touring with Vince's band, except for a few dates Vince is doing with Lyle Lovett (just the two of them).

Mark, you deciphered it correctly. Paul is touring with Vince in his band and both Paul and Vince are touring with the Time Jumpers, who have actually been touring a fair amount. Check their website: http://www.thetimejumpers.com/live-gigs/

I saw Paul last night and asked him about touring with Vince. He said that aside from a handful of dates that Vince is doing with Lyle Lovett, he is touring with Vince and the Time Jumpers.

When in Nashville there's Lower Broad(downtown) and the Nashville Palace out by Opryland Hotel. Both have a constant stream of live music. But I would especially point out Monday nights at the Station Inn, Val Storey and New Monday w/Doug Jernigan or 3rd and Lindsley, the Time Jumpers w/Paul Franklin.

I use an Android tablet and it's 8.25" X 12.75". The holder I use is a K&M Universal Tablet Holder. It clamps on the 8.25" side and the arm is long enough to attach to the front leg of my steel. I can rotate the tablet 90 degrees with it in the holder. http://www.musiciansfriend.c...

I bought a Nuvision TM1318 Android tablet for less than $150. It's nearly the size of an 8.5 x 11 page. Our band uses iReal Pro, $12.99 from Google Play. It lets us email playlists (set lists) back and forth. It's just chord charts and lyrics. I bought a tablet holder from Musicians Friend that clam...

I bought a 13 inch Android tablet for $150, iReal Pro for $12 and tablet clamp for $60. All band members share playlists through email. It's easy to see and nearly the size of a sheet of paper. I clamp it to the front leg of my steel. iReal Pro only does chord charts but other band members have iPad...

Doug Jernigan gives lessons. I just emailed him this morning about one next week. His website is digndoug.com.

Buck Reid is also a good choice when he's in town.

Thanks for the advice. I'll disconnect the pots and see what it get. I have a Lace Tonebar 10 on my Zum. I like it. Has anyone put one on a MSA like mine? How difficult is it? I also have the pickup that was replaced by the Tonebar which one would be the easier replacement? I've never taken the pick...

70's MSA question

I have a mid 70's MSA Classic D10. I bought it new. It has a volume and tone control next to the output jack and SuperSustain pickups. I've always liked the C6 tone but have never found a great E9 tone. I've never really used either control, both always stay full on. Should I bypass the two pots? Wo...

Well, I'm working on getting some tunes polished enough to record and share. I'll post them when they're done.

I'm mainly playing western swing and Byrds/Burritos out theses days. Thanks for kicking it up a few notches on the priority list.

Jazz simple?

When I was studying jazz guitar, my teacher, who also taught at local universities, would express his displeasure with his college students, who could play some rock, thinking that they could play jazz as easily. He often said jazz was not created to be easy. One of the impulses for creating it was ...

To get started with chords consider the bottom 3 or 4 (includes two C notes)strings as chord roots. You have a C6, a Fmaj9 and a Am7 (I6, IV7 & vi). When playing a two - five change assuming you're playing in the key of G (no bar, open strings), Am7 is the two chord and pressing pedal 5 makes it...

Figured it out

I figured out what was going on. I just got my Nashville 112 back from the repair shop. The reverb on it was very noisy since I bought it a few months ago. So they got Peavey to replace it. Not having used it much I didn't notice that the pre-gain was turned up high. Turning it down made the volume ...

Volume pedal pot issue

I have a Goodrich volume pedal with a Dunlop Hot Potz II pot in it. It seems to jump from off to fairly loud with very little pedal movement. I was wondering if this is a sign of wear? It isn't scratchy but it has been in the pedal for over a year and I play it every day.

I bought this C6th Chord Dictionary in the late 70s at the Sho-Bud Store on Lower Broad in Nashville. I don't remember what it cost. I asked Neil about it last fall in St. Louis and he said it took him three years to translate it from a regular guitar chord book. When I switched back to playing stee...

Your feedback has convinced me that it shouldn't be so noisy. I'll take it back to the dealer and get them to check it out.

Thanks,

Nashville 112 reverb noisy

I bought a new Peavey Nashville 112 last fall. I live in an old house with wooden floors and no matter how softly you walk the reverb makes noise. Is this something I should get fixed under warranty or is it normal for these amps? I have an old single channel Sho-Bud that I replaced the reverb tank ...
