Re: String
Brad, I'm all E9th so no experience with the 070 plus I have not seen any comments on the 070 as compared to others. I will be glad to send you an 070, tune it up and run it thru the mill, I only have a nickle now but can have a stainless in a couple days or so. Ray, I went to the Live Steel String...

Re: String
Brad, I am a dealer for Livesteel Strings, What is the guage of the string you are having trouble with, I am at rayssteel@gmail.com Ray, the .068" Live Steel String arrived today and I put it right on my steel, a BIG improvement, it's definitely the best low C string that I've tried so far, an...

The reason I keep saying STRING suggestions is because I know just how important the string's core, windings, and gauge are, and how they can drastically affect the crispness and tone of a string, because I did some part time consulting work for John Cavanaugh the owner of Super-Sensitive Strings, a...

I'm actually extremely happy with the tone, equalization, and crispness of ALL of my strings (EVERY SINGLE ONE) except for that one, and when I change that one string with other gauges and/or brands I get varying degrees of deadness, in other words, some of the strings that I tried sound better than...

Best low C string for crisp tone on C6th PSG???????
I've tried I don't know how many different string brands and gauges, even a couple of bass guitar strings, and just can't seem to find a low C string that doesn't sound a little bit dead, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Today I noticed that Electro-Harmonix just came with some new guitar synth pedals for synth, organ, and piano using a standard guitar pickup, and they're only a couple of hundred bucks each. I've had pretty good results with both Casio guitars that put out MIDI directly and Roland GK guitars that will only drive GK modules or MIDI with a GK to MIDI converter. I'm planning on mounting a GK pickup onto a Fessenden 6 Shooter which has wider spacing than a 10 stringer. I'm going to use an ...

You could use two Roland synth units - each being driven by 6 strings. I certainly considered that, but after being a working musician for well over forty years I've grown weary of lugging, setting up, and tearing down too much crap at gigs. I keep down sizing more and more as time goes on, but tha...

Re: Gk3
agree with others .. if you could somehow add more string pickups .. you could get the unique pedal steel chord voicing .. on other instruments like piano and organ.[/quote] I totally agree also, I didn't make it this way because I ONLY wanted six strings to be midi, the main problem isn't as simple...

Congratulations on your pickup, Brad. I'm happy you are keeping after your cool ideas and inventions. It's been a while since we hung out. If you are ever in the Burlington area, maybe we can grab something to eat. PM me when you are planning to be in the neighborhood. :0) Hey Chris, it's great to ...

Not to derail the thread but I thought Rusty Young was using a midi-pickup back in the late '80s. Does anyone know if that's true and if so, what pickup he was using? I only owned one Poco album, so I'm not sure, but could very well be, I think that's around the time they first came out with guitar...

That's a nice looking rig, I'll have to go read about the Midiverb.
