Clem has it right about the nut...take your time and it will work out fine...about 1/2 the thickness of your heaviest string usually does the trick...

Erv with my steel handy beside me cranked the 7 C# up to D...interesting hmmm..cranked it right back down....Erv a simple yet effective little run pick strings 7 6 5 let them ring and slide down 2 frets..( anywhere on the neck )...then pick string 4 at where ever that may be on many of Hanks old tun...
