"That reminds me of the guitar site that said lap steels are "obsolete" today because of pedal steels." This reminded me of an interview with either Kayton Roberts or herb Remmington, I can't remember which. Where the reason for not switching to pedals was because the soul in you...

Resonator effect pedal

It's my understanding that the Danelctro Fish & Chips EQ does a pretty good job of getting a resonator sound out of your steel. The Resonator pedals are pricey so I may go this route. I was wondering if there is something about this particular EQ that does this or can any EQ pedal get this effect?

Since discovering the steel guitar about 3 years ago I can say that Kayton is by far my fave! He just seems like he's a blast to play with and a true gentleman. Happy Birthday Kayton. On another note; does anyone have tabs to some of his stuff off the Valley of the Roses CD? I'd love to learn some a...

Ibanez AF 75

I have an Ibanez AF 75 that I would like to trade for a 6 string lap steel. It is in great condition and comes with a nice hard shell. I did have the plastic nut replaced with a synthetic bone one and will provide a receipt of the work done.

That's what I thought. He is asking for guitar trades as well so I am going to offer him my Ibanez AF 75 hollowbody. I am in Toronto so not too close to London.

I just realized I didn't put the price in. It's going for $650 CAN which is $500 US. It looks to be in pretty good shape as well as the original case.

Blocking

I'm still relatively new to the instrument as I've only been playing for a couple of years and have been a bit off and on as I play guitar as well. I've noticed that I find it way easier to pick block as opposed to palm block. Are there advantages to either technique? The palm blocking isn't working...

I am a huge Steve Howe fan as he inspired me to first start playing guitar. I thought I'd post this video although not the best quality it does show his incredible musicianship.

Thanks for all the help! I sat down a few nights this week and just went through all the songs we play on my own with the guitar in c6. Then I played with the guys this weekend and suddenly it just started making sense. I'm still having some difficulty finding the scales but the chordal possibilitie...

Should I stick with c6

I am a guitar player first and foremost but have been playing steel for the past year. I originally started with open E and it was easy to navigate and really started to sound cool when I was jamming with my buddies. Then I switched to C6 and it just isn't working as well with the type of music we p...

My friend just recently upgraded his tele and has offered me his bridge pup to use. I will just have a bit of a routing job. I also grabbed new pots, capacitor and jack. The new pots are too big so I need to route the control plate area as well. Just not sure what to do with hiding the holes left fr...

I don't need an intonated bridge just like the look of the wilkinson. I also heard that the bushings on the original bridge are too short and that the bridge begins to lift away from the guitar in time. I won't have that problem with the four screws on the wilkinson.

I have an sx lap steel aswell and am thinking of putting a Wilkinson Tele style bridge form guitar fetish on it. It's the one with out the cutout for the angular single coil. Can I just fill the holes left by the bushings from the original bridge with wood fill?

Fender 400

I am looking at a fender 400 that is for sale near me. Just wondering how much work it would be to set it up with new cables?
