Very nice tone on the steel, David. I've often thought of Buddy's single note playing like the tone/timbre of a clarinet.
The two instruments go really well together.
A great "Stardust" too. An excellent, mellow feel.

I saw a cartoon posted in a studio, in Nashville, that said "I made mine in the steel guitar business", with a drawing of a hobo .
The "steel guitar business" was interchangeable with something else. I believe that made the studio rounds too, with various statements.

What Producers Say

Buddy said this to me:
"First, the producers say, "get me Buddy Emmons", then, "get me a Buddy Emmons", then it's "who's Buddy Emmons?".

I might have mistaken you a number of years ago too. in 1990, I recorded "I Love You So Much" with the other John at the end of a session in New Mexico. I think of it as the quintessential steel song, like "Steeling The Blues". Ian Wallace, who played drums with King Crimson, als...

If you can get it for a nice price, the electronics and pickup work, and the mechanics need a bunch of work, considering it as a lap steel with legs (console) is an option.

When I worked at Bobby Seymour's Steel Guitar World, in the late 80's, Bobbe would go out with Johnny Paycheck for a week or two, now and then. Johnnny's other steeler was Big Jim. although I didn't see a date of the Paycheck video John posted, It looks like it is from this time.

Sid Hudson. Buddy used him on guitar a bunch and he played steel with a flatpack. I was at Rick Derringer's house, in NYC in 1981 and he sold me his Sho~Bud Pro II for $900. It went to Mike Cass and onto someone else. Probably all the Hellecastsrs play pedal steel. When I worked for Robert Randolph,...

I've found them in lap steel cases and love those round blades that reduce string scraping on wound strings.
