I have one question- what is a standard tuning for a steel guitar?? The first tuning I was taught, back in the 50's, was open A then E. Now I play in A, E, E13,
E7, E9 chronomatic, G, A6, and C6.

The button was "when the gutar was new" to turn off all puickups at one time "like for a brake" I have 1950 TRIPPLE CUSTOM it has worked that way for along time.

I was in Joliet for the 99 convention and all I can say is WOW!!!it was blast. Yes JB has played in the past. Some of the ones that played wereL.T. Zinn, Alan Akaka,Herbert Hanawahine and many more . Check the HSGA link for more info.

Chris, Grounding an electric guitar will normally eliminate the hum. But be careful it could have a shocking surprise if you play in a place that you have never played before be sure to check and make sure that place is properly wired. The tone of a steel guitar is produced not by the body of the guitar but by the pickupand amp take one guitar that you like the sound of and try it on some one elses amp and you will see that it is in the electronic or change the pickup and use the same guitar and amp.
