Pickup Recharging

Who is doing vintage pickup recharging these days? I contacted Lollar but they’re too busy with production to do it. I’ve got 2 pickups from a recently acquired National d8 with the totem fretboard design. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the article. It’s very refreshing to read something well-researched and well-written these days. When I was first learning guitar I remember reading interviews with some old school blues players who said that the older guys were very guarded about what they played and how they played it, ...

Glenn, I came to the same conclusion. Got 20% of what I paid for it back from the seller and am going to keep it. Bill, yup, mine is the white one with totem fret markers. It sure turned some heads when I opened up the case at my local guitar shop! Played it at a rehearsal and I don’t mind not havin...

National Grand Console Pickup Covers

I recently bought a National Grand Console with the totem fret markers on Reverb. The pickup covers came off during shipping and shattered. I may be able to super glue one but the other is not salvageable. Anyone have any leads on replacements or someone who can 3D print a replacement? Or should I j...

Starter Steel Under $1000?

Hi everyone, are there any good starter psg for under $1000 these days? Seems like prices on everything are skyrocketing! I’m looking for a S-10. Appreciate any advice and I apologize if this has been covered on other threads!

Sarno black box with reso

Curious to know if anyone has experience with using the sarno black box with a resonator, specifically how it interacts with an imaging pedal like tonedexter/aura? Thanks!

Thanks Gabe! I bought this off your old band-mate Dan. Great guy, Dan! He let me pay him in small installments. Probably would never have justified buying one outright.

Thanks for the info! I thought maybe it was an older model because the numbers on mine don't match the ones in the Manuel. Paul, I am having a blast learning this thing and you'll be happy to know that after 2 years or so of collecting dust in my buddy's living room, she's getting played every day.

Yes, I bought it from a buddy of mine who had purchased it from a steel player here named Gabe I believe. Built like a tank is about right. I live in a third floor apartment and just about give myself a hernia every time I take the thing out. I'm loving it despite the weight!

New player/Dekley info

Hi folks, I'm new to the pedal steel. Just became the owner of a Dekley and was wondering in anyone might know some specifics about its date of manufacture. Thanks!

Hi Erv, sent you a PM. Interested in some tabs and backing tracks. Do you have a listing of which Hawaiian tunes you have backing tracks for? Thanks!

The GarageBand app is great, it has this 'smart drums' feature where you can create different beats and change the tempo. I think it set me back about $12(of course the iPad set me back about $600).

No chrome bullet bar?

Hi fellas, I'm mostly a lurker here. I play dobro but have been getting into lap steel and actually just got a pedal steel. I'm looking for a bullet bar that is stainless steel but not chrome plated. My hand breaks out in hives when I use chrome plated bars. I like the Dunlop Jerry Byrd size for lap...

BTW, I'm a huge fan of your work!

Tom, it's got the strat style pick-up in it. Peter, I've tried the steel through many amps and have used different cables and it has the same hum, although I've never tried rotating the guitar. I'll usually sit or stand fairly close to the amp so I can make any adjustments I need to make. Thanks for...

Sorry, I thought about hopping onto one of the many Rondo threads with my questions, I just didn't want to hi-jack someone else's thread. Anyway, It's definitely that single coil hum(buzz was a poor choice of words probably)--it's just more extreme then I've ever heard on any guitar. I'm wondering i...

Pick-up recommendations for Rondo upgrade

Hi fellas. I'm looking for some recommendations for upgrading my Rondo SX. This thing buzzes like I've never heard anything buzz before, even with the tone control all the way down. Is this mostly the pick-up or do the potentiometers have anything to do with it? Are there any decent pick-ups out the...
