Dumble overdrive pedal, $80+$10ship conus

One Control Golden Acorn...Dumble pedal that not only SOUNDS like a Dumble, but also has the FEEL of a Dumble. I got it to replace my ZenDrive, the gold standard for Dumble pedals, because it sounds essentially the same, but in a mini-format, and a LOT cheaper (I actually got 2 of them for much less...

They at least imply that the NYXL process is on all the strings...I'd suggest that if bending is their claim to fame, the plain strings would be what they are talking about... "At two whole steps higher, NYXL strings are still at less than 75% of their breaking point. In the same setting, stand...

So...you've decided that being even is more important than each one being in as far as it can be? Perhaps making the lengths random would damp out any possible resonance better?

My trick with my Williams keyless is to lay the string in between nut rollers, pull it taut, lock it down, and then lift the string up to the roller. Not that hard to do. And then the extra string is minimal, except in the end ones, which hit the curve of the the metal surround and can't go all the ...

"distortion" is a misleading word. e.g., my favorite amp, The Milkman all-tube Pedal Steel Mini, at 40 watts, does drive the power stage into saturation when pushed...but it is more an "angels singing" sound that what you mean by "distortion"... Solid-states are a diffe...

I use in my custom what Beard uses in his multi-pickup instruments...the Fishman Powerchip. replaces a volume control and gives the ability to balance the pickups, with an active circuit on the Piezo. Stereo and/or mono output, auto sensing. Battery lasts hundreds of hours. In the writeup, the Power...

Ian & Andrew- Thanks! It all is much clearer now... Another way to see it is that the F# in PD A scale should be as flat as the C# in an open E scale ...and I do flat my C#...both are sixths ... And yes, if I tune for open, in the PD F#minor I hear the beats, until I adjust the F# down... BUT in...

My comment has nothing to do with Rittenberry or Fessenden or videos...I'm responding to the OP Williams post, other comments, and my quest to understand how compensators fit into the overall tuning...
Or perhaps I didn't understand your comment?

Ian- Well, I use a Pete-Burak-derived thing that is an easy version of JI...I adjust E's for drop, and then G#,C#, and F flattened in increasing amounts for the chords they mostly lie in...others straight up. So understanding how the F# relates to the chords it is in would help me...I actually have ...

Ian-
I still don't see it...in those chords, if F# is lowered, the thirds will be wrong (sharp). I guess you are saying that the 5ths are more important than the 3rds?

OK...this is the thread I needed! ..I've read all the compensator threads....
I don't see how any chord using string 7 would need it lowered...F#m, BMajor,???
the other strings that would be in those chords would have thirds that would then be too sharp....

Williams guitars puts this (Dave's way) on their standard E9 copedent...a split of string 6 G#->F# on RKL and G#->A on B pedal, with a split rod to make it perfect (raise the resulting flat G#->F# note).
So RKL+B=G#->G, no extra change needed...

Gretsch Electromatic 5700. Cheap, and extends far enough back to hold benders. I had one... Don't forget that your right hand will have a hard time learning to use the bender and still block the strings and pick cleanly...I gave up. Here's an interesting thread here about them...and there are lots m...

Jerry- the two higher strings were added after the pedal steel had been around for a while, so they just threw them on top to not confuse existing players, is my understanding. But it fact it helps enable playing faster, using fingerpicks that is hard to do in a straight line, but you can alternate ...

A tip for those who are new to Moyo...place the hinge of your ankle over the hinge of the pedal...your foot will be sitting well forward on it. The temptation is to put your toe on the pedal, but that isn't the way to get the best taper.
