I definetly need a active mixer. Ideally something like the Behringer except two channels and trim pots so I could mount it permanantly under my pedal board and then mount the jacks right on the frame. Set it and forget it, get to the gig and plug in. Kind of like this http://www.rdlnet.com/product....

Dave I like that MX400 idea it's only 2"x4" and I could plug it into the 12v pedal power supply built into my board. I could even mount it on the board but would have to decide which pedal to give up. As it is I could set it on the floor (maybe put a gaurd over the buttons). Its about the ...

Input Mixer for Cube 80XL

I want to use my single input Roland Cube for guitar and steel but need to reduce the number of switches I have during performance. Currently an AB switch switches the guitar or steel into the circuit but I also have to switch the amp simulator and I usually forget one or the other or both. So I usu...

Vibrosonic Reverb

I would like to sell this Fender Vibrosonic for $700.00 with the original speaker or $820.00 with the JBL. The price does not include shipping, and so a local sale would be great. Otherwise I would have to check and see what it cost to ship a beast like this. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix12...

My Strat, Tele and stand go accross the folded down seats. I though it was going to be too small but it is ...

I worked on it last night and think I can figure it out on the E9 neck. I got the licks at 1:42 and 1:50 figured out next I will work on the solo at the end which is similar. Then mabey I'll try my hand at tabbing it out.

All You Ever Do is Bring Me Down

OK, I've searched for this Mavericks song and somebody already got flamed pretty bad for asking, and so take it easy on me. I have been playing this tune for several months now and would realy like to get some of the voicings that Paul Franklin uses. I'm a beginner and have been getting better at pi...

I have been using one for about a year now for steel guitar with a "loud" Country band. Also have a Vibro Sonic. The XL 80 is more directional but stays clean and as loud as the Vibrosonic. Jury is still out on this comparison. Brought it out last night to show some guys I've play guitar w...

Im a guitar player, Fender all the way guy, but my Deluxe Reverb was breaking up with the steel and my Super Reverb is in a band trailer and so after much debate I went with the Cube 80XL and for the money, I think its great, plus the guitar sounds pretty good through it and its easy to switch sound...

I had the same problem a couple days ago. I have rebuilt my changer and it could use replacement fingers. Already had the raise return springs off, and so I stretched out the lower return spring A LITTLE and it was fixed. Still scratching my head as to why this worked. I did notice that the lower re...

sanding string grooves in pot metal changer fingers ?

This is a timely topic. I have a 74 Sho Bud and have been noticing the "sitar effect" on my fifth string. Last night the string broke and there is an ugly groove on the finger. So what do I do if I can't sand it out? Just polish it?

J.D. Call

I sent my daughter and some of her friends to see Pure Prairie League and Poco in Boulder CO last Saturday night. She met John Call after their set and told him her dad was keeping the Steel Guitar alive in Wisconsin. What a nice guy. Sorry I missed the show. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix10...

Pro II Custom Cross Rod

After pulling the rods out of my Pro II I noticed that The bellcrank (on the right) is not anchored squarly on the crossshaft. I wonder if it just slipped or would someone have set it up that way intentionally? Notice how one of the set screws is actually hitting the round part of the shaft. I would...

I got the changer done. Polished the aluminum too, turned out great. Now I'm working on the headstock. The roller-nut and axle was really gunked up and I carefully pried it out for cleaning. The axle has a slight bow to it. I am assuming that will straighten out when I put it back together. Any tips...

I took the changer apart and cleaned the fingers with Naptha. Found one that was binding a bit and I fixed that. I had a visit with Bill Lane in St. Paul last week. He worked for many years at Sunesons Steel Guitars in Mpls. He told me not to use any lube, "just keep it clean" . I have alo...

Pro II Custom Renovation

I had to take apart my Sho Bud to replace the pick up. Its a long story, but had to pull the rods and remove the changer to ge the pickup out. While I'e got it apart, its time to clean it up. The picture shows the spacer is bent quite a bit. What would cause this? I am assuming I should staighten it...

Sho-Bud Pick-Up

I just picked up a '73 Sho-Bud Pro II. The previous owner put a replacement pick-up in the E9 neck that looks like a Tru-Tone because of the larger magnets but is shorting out and cannot be adjusted close to the strings. I would like to buy a Sho-Bud pick-up that is as close to original as possible....
