Shipping information
I'm going to put my Magnatone T8 on eBay and was wondering if anyone could tell me the best way to ship it. I was thinking UPS, fully insured of course.

1953 Magnatone Lyric non-pedal T8 - $900
Hey, gang, I am trying to sell a 1953 Magnatone Lyric non-pedal T8. It has no problems, other than a case with a bit of wear. I've only tried Craigslist (Austin and San Marcos, Texas) because I didn't want to deal with shipping, but that hasn't worked so far, so now I'm considering eBay. Any opinion...

Magnatone T8
Hey all, I've decided to sell my 1953 Magnatone T8. Any idea what I should ask for it? I paid $800, but I thought that was a fairly low price. I can post photos, but before I do I just wanted to see if anyone had a ballpark guess. Also, I live in the Austin area, which could make a difference. -Danny

The thing is, I'm going to buy a tube amp in the $600-1000 price range later this year, and I really just wanted the cheapest thing I could get. I know that ANYTHING, even my old Peavey Rage 108, would sound better than my Fender Mini-Twin, and I was just hoping someone would recommend something unb...

I've played with slinkier strings on a steel guitar and I don't like how easily they bend under the weight of my steel and hand. And when I play standard guitar, I prefer 12s, at least (whereas most play 9s or 10s). I'm going for a thick jazzy tone, and I assumed (rightly? wrongly?) that most steel ...

Short-scale string gauges
On a 22.5" scale, for A6 and Boggs' E13, (using flats or semi-flats) how heavy of a gauge can I get away with, stringwise? I want them as heavy as possible.

Anyone played or heard a steel through a Pignose?
Hey gang, I have a Fender Mini-Twin, and, frankly, it sounds terrible when I play my steel through it. I need something to practice through that sounds somewhat pleasing, and since I just bought a new (to me) steel, I have no budget. I'm considering a Pignose, the standard old one, not one of the ne...

Danny, I don't agree with your Smoke on the Water example. E up to A ( or A down to E) is a fourth independent of whether or not there is a lower (or higher) note being played. Sorry for the confusion. I didn't mean playing an E and then an A. I meant playing them at the same time. The person was c...

Advice on a Magnatone T8
I'm considering buying this guitar, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about it, any reason why I might not want it. I'm a little skeptical simply because it's so cheap ($800). Tonewise I'm seeking something a little more round and jazzy. Thoughts? http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/us...

Most of the CDs I've bought in the past five years have been from the 50s, 60s, or 70s. That's not because I'm living in the past, it's because I don't like much of anything being done these days. I think too much emphasis is placed on innovation and doing what's not been done before. There are prob...

Roll-Your-Own question
Hello all. I'm currently looking into making my own amp. I was looking at the kit Mojo sells for the tweed Champ, and I had a few thoughts. Since the most expensive parts (aside from the $60 transformer) are the cabinet ($190), the speaker ($30), and the amp chassis ($70), couldn't I just go to the ...
