Western swing band - Hwy 91

I am playing in a new western swing band, Hwy 91, and we played our first gig last week. We were shorthanded and fellow Forum member Dan Baston was kind enough to join us on rhythm guitar to help out. Here are a few tracks from the gig. https://shorturl.at/dIPX7 https://shorturl.at/vFHJR https://sho...

Ross,
Man, your guitars just keep getting better and better. The latest is beyond gorgeous.
I am wondering - are you doing the engine turning on a drill press or a CNC?

David,

Think of the Bb as A#. With that lever engaged you now have an F#9 chord (without a 5th). That lever is analogous to the 5th pedal on a C6 neck.

Thanks, Bob. I love classic E9 pedal steel, but I can't play it. I guess we do what we can do.

Lee,
I guess this is topic drift, but just wondering if you are native to the Valley. I lived in Corpus Christi for a year (1977) and met my wife there. She grew up in Robstown just outside of Corpus. Never did visit the Valley though.

Lee, I was 9 years old in 1960 when The Flintstones debuted, probably the ideal age for the show, and watched it often. When The Jetsons came on two years later, it never really clicked with me for some reason, and I really didn't watch it much. When I read your post I couldn't hear the theme song i...

Samuel, The pedal bar on this Bigsby originally had 5 pedals which were equally spaced. The way I have it set up now, the 2 on the far left operate on the inside neck (E6). I left the third pedal position empty for now only because I did not have a perceived need or use for one (yet). I still think ...

David, When I first learned this one I think I had a lead sheet with the chord names, so my work was to take that info and find chord locations on the guitar which would facilitate incorporating the melody in as fluid a way as possible. This is a fairly standard way to work up a chord melody I would...

As a further explanation of how I played this song, I just added a tab for it in the Tablature section.

Misty (B11 pedal)

I thought I would share this with anyone of the same persuasion as me who just likes reading tabs and analyzing what is going on (since nobody else is actually playing this copedant.) You can see the song played here (mostly the same as the tab.) https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=37864...

Ed, It is a one-of-a-kind for sure, and that may not be a good thing. The short answer is that I played non-pedal for 25 years and became very comfortable with the tunings I was using (which did not include C6 or E9), and about 5 years ago decided to add some pedals. I was not ready to basically sta...
