I am saddened that we have lost a kind spirit whose
imaginative musicianship revolutionized the steel guitar world. May he rest in peace.

I am very sorry to hear about the passing of Curtis Potter. I first met him in Abilene when Curtis was 16 years old. Shortly after that, he traveled to Paris, Texas to appear on the Red River Jamboree and stayed overnight with our family. Our paths crossed again when he was with Billy Gray's band, H...

Scotty was tops as a promoter of steel guitar and the artists who play it, forming the Midland label to issue an impressive catalog of excellent steel guitar albums. In Fort Worth circa 1980, he was giving a clinic (at Steve Lamb's Steel City), and on the mic he acknowledged that I was in attendance...

My words are inadequate to express the great sorrow I feel. Sometime ago, I realized that Buddy Emmons would not be playing again, and ever since that sad day I've dreaded the finality of today's news. May he rest in peace, and be reunited with the love of his life.

I am very sad to hear that Bud Carter has passed. He is someone I've respected since I first met him in 1964. I called Bud last summer and we talked for 40 minutes on various subjects, but mostly about music. He was a masterful and innovative designer/builder of pedal steels, a very gifted musician ...

Thanks for posting this. What a remarkable person!
I will try to learn more about her - truly an inspiring
individual. I have long believed that music, in it's purest form, is something spiritual and sacred.

I think the Steel Guitar Forum is the perfect place for Mr. Gibbs to express his opinion based on his own unfortunate experience with Maurice Anderson. I also think it takes courage to be the sole dissenting voice so I respect Mr. Gibbs for not remaining silent. His statement that others were ripped...

Art McNulty dies.

I recently learned that pianist Arthur McNulty passed away on August 20, 2013 in Dallas, Texas. During the mid-1950's he played in the bands of Billy Gray and Bob Wills. He's the pianist on the Dance-O-Rama album Billy Gray recorded for Decca. His solos are bright, swinging jewels that maintain inte...

I was saddened to learn that Daryl Davidson has passed away. I knew him in the mid-1960's, as did my brother, guitarist Jerry Case, who had worked in Wichita Falls, Texas alongside Daryl in a band led by the great trumpeter Bob Wommack. Later, Daryl lived in the Fort Worth/Dallas area for a while an...

Gone Home RIP Maurice Anderson

Maurice was a huge influence on my brother Jerry Case and me early in our careers. He helped us in many ways and it was an honor to be his friend and musical associate. We Case brothers participated (together and separately) with Maurice on recordings and gigs during the 1960's and 70's. He also bec...

Tom Morrell Tribute CD by Time-Warp Tophands

I've been told by Craig Chambers that the CD project with Johnny Cox & Denny Mathis will continue soon.
I've completed nine songs (I play piano) and Tim Alexander is scheduled to play on the remaining cuts.
Release date? It's too early to say, but maybe in time
for the next Texas steel show.
