The ongoing Scheerhorn thread has prompted my new interest in the Franklin Pedabro. I realized that I had no idea what they look like, but found this picture on Paul Franklin's site.

Does anyone have any sound clips, or suggestions as to what songs I might hear one on? (I've got Dan Tyack's "Blackened Toast" CD, where he plays Pedabro on one track. But I'd like to hear more.)

Paul's "Akoostix" cassette (I think that was the title?) is dedicated to a high percentage of Pedabro. You may be able to order it from the Franklins.

Hal Rugg played his on a recent project called "The Resocasters" with Jim Heffernann and Mike Auldridge.

For backup snippets, you could check out Randy Travis' "Forever and Ever, Amen", Keith Whitley's "When You Say Nothing At All", Josh Turner's "Long Black Train"... (anyone else with more suggestions?)

Good luck,

Russ, Peggy Green's "Songs of Naka Pieda" (available through the forum), to me, is the most beautiful recording of solo Pedabro.

This is a gem of a cd.

Thanks, Howard.

By the way, is this the first time that you and I have exchanged posts where neither one of us was joking?

Hal Rugg on Pedabro on "The Resocasters" CD.

With Mike Auldridge and Jim Heffernan on the non-pedal variety of resonator guitar.
