That really doesn't surprise me.
I sold a guitar on ebay and specified cashiers check or US postal money order. The high bidder e-mails me and wants me to sent it c.o.d. I refused and he put a negative post on me saying I lost a sale because I wouldn't give on the c.o.d issue. I posted there was no cod issue.Hs said it was too much of a hassle to get a money order or bank draft.Go figure...
This was the only problem I ever encountered with a buyer or a seller.

I sold a PRS guitar on ebay and had GREAT problems getting the buyer(s) to understand that I meant what I said, US Postal Money Order or Money Wire Transfer ONLY...which would make the transaction totally safe for me. The first buyer backed out because I wouldn't take Paypal for his payment (safe for him, not for me). The second buyer finally conceeded to a wire transfer. By the time this sale was all over I felt truly put through the ringer!
On high priced items I would never accept a Paypal payment. The first buyer was from Australia, and could have kept the guitar and done a PP chargeback. No way was I going to take that risk.
I have still not found a way that BOTH the buyer and seller can be safe. One of them must conceed to a risk. If only ONE of them can be totally safe, the Seller can rightfully have that privilege as he/she sets the terms of payment in the auction, and the buyer will comply or not.
(An escrow service is not safe either.)

Try this one for size. This steel is NOT located in Great Britain.
Here is what somebody we all know wrote about it.

Makes you wonder who is right.Bidders beware.........The sellers adress is invalid... The photo shows a Franklin steel guitar placed beside a wall power outlet, check out the outlet, its a North American power outlet, not a UK one. We use a 13amp wall plug. Seller wants paid with Western Union, Ebay uses PayPal.............Be careful guys

Ive gotten at least one bidder like this with every auction Ive done on Ebay... Im not going to ship an item to your "relatives living state-side" while you issue me a check from Algeria, Nigeria, Spain, etc etc.... The item goes to the same address the check was sent from (especially w/ PayPal), and if it isnt in the lower 48~ sorry, no dice!!!
So far the only thing that has worked for me is to have negative / non feedback bidders blocked from the auction if they dont e-mail me prior to bidding. If they e-mail me, I can get a good idea from either their grammar or the e-mail headers whether they are legit or not. Once someone starts with the "compensation & shipping agent" runaround they're all through.
I'd really like to meet these "shipping agents"~ are they just regular couriers or part of the syndicate?!?

I think you and I were bidding on the same Marlen "cause I received the same e-mails stating the winning bidder had problem with funds and I could have it for my original bid.I managed to contact the seller and he stated he had already received the funds and the guitar had been shipped.I contacted e-bay and I never heard from the creep again.
