Speedy West/Jimmy Bryant/Noel Boggs and others Video

Post by Mike Ihde »

After reading a post about Speedy and Jimmy the other day, I remembered I had a video somewhere of them. I found it and watched it today and to my surprise, it's a real RARE find indeed. There's not enough space to list all that's on it so I'll mention the highlights. 3 single song videos of Tennessee Ernie doing "classics" like "Shot Gun Boogie", a complete half hour episode of "Hometown Jamboree" with Cousin Ernie, a short film called Tennessee Ernie and Molly Bee in "Corral Cuties" All the above feature Speedy and Jimmy. Then a short movie called "Jimmy Wakely's Jamboree" with Noel Boggs, then 5 videos of "Smokey Rogers and his Cowboy Calvalcade" (in color!) Then, Merle Travis and the Travelers (with Speedy) doing 4 or 5 tunes and in the middle of all this, a hilarious short movie called "The Slim Gaillard Trio, OVOUTTE OROONEY" that you have to see to believe. All together it's 2 hours of amazing classic country music from the 1950's. Since it's twice as long as the Hawaiin video I offered before, I'm asking $20 for this glimpse into the simple, happy era of country music in its infancy. I found this post while looking through Speedy West postings. Still have copies of this available?

Hey, what's a Kemppainen doin' in Texas?? Shouldn't you be here in Finland?? Image Seriously though Mike, I'd be interested too if you still have this available. I have bunch of it already ( Slim Gaillard IS unreal ), but it never hurts to have "safety copies".

I seemed to have misplaced my copy and would like to order another. The Jimmy Bryant/Speedy West stuff is great, especially "Flyin' High". This is early, live TV and is rare footage. I haven't seen or heard of any other footage of Jimmy Bryant. The Slim Gallard stuff is especially o'voutville. If Mike surfaces, let us have the latest ordering info please.
