I set a goal for myself last New Years Day. After making a steel guitar purchase at 1 am on New Years morning, I said I'd be playing Steel with a band within 1 year. Goal met. Besides the recent occasional sit in with a few of the local bands I landed the steel spot in a 5 piece band out of Enterprise, Alabama just this week. And to my suprise these guys play real country!

I am truly greatful for the steel guitar forum and the steel guitar chatroom. With out them I would probably just be a steel owner.

Happy Hollidays to all!

Jim,
Thats a good deal man, sounds like another story I know. I did about the same thing back in 1977, bought a Sho~Bud crossover, got rid of it and got a Sho~Bud LDG and was playing 5 nights a week on a set down gig in about a years time. It will get a lot easier after playing with a band for a while. It takes a lot of work and time don't it?

Jimbo great news, now you can pay me back that $50.00 bucks you owe me. Just kidding. Jim has worked hard and developed an outstanding style that I believe will take him a long way. You deserve this Jimbo. Congratulations.

Congrats!

Myself, after a year on telecaster, playing it on a half dozen songs a night, I got offered a guitar playing gig during a fill in I had this weekend.

That's been my goal for the last year, funny as it might seem, but it's nice to know that you can do it with a lot of practice.

Playing another instrument for years is certainly a leg up.
Again, Congrats.

Time to go get a premolar pulled..
