I posted this in Steels without Pedals, but I probably should have posted it here...

I have a 1937 Epi Model M 8 string and this name is scratched inside the control cavity.
I bought the steel up in B.C a few years back. Could have come from anywhere, as the former owner's father was quite a lap steel collecter who used to attend the conventions.
I opened it to spray the volume pots and noticed the name. Ring a bell with anyone?

Circa 1941 there was a 15 minute program on WSM-AM Nashville at around 7AM that featured a country band on what was known in those days as an "electrical transcription" (not live). Although WSM was home of the Grand Ole Opry and had various country acts on live in the early morning on weekdays these musicians were not from Nashville. The steel player used the name Honolulu Johnny Sorrell. I have not heard the name since then and often wondered whatever became of him. The group's most frequently played song was "I Told Them All About You" a tune I haven't heard in years.
