I am a 25 year old beginner PSG player in the Southwest Houston, Texas area. I bought a Carter-Starter PSG. I would like to take lessons. What key essentials must I learn before I take lessons? Is there anyone in the Houston area that gives lessons? I have some instructional material on order, so I will do my best with that until I can get in to get some lessons. Thanks! |

Brandon, Welcome aboard. Hope you can find you a good teacher. If you can at all you should try to come to the Dallas Steel Convention in March. If you've never been to one you will be amazed. Good luck in your playing.

Brandon,
Glad to hear there's a Houstonian steeler! I'm going to email you Susan Alcorn's number. She was my teacher and opened my mind in a lot of ways. She also saved me quite a bit of time. She knows both traditional and modern techniques. You'll learn traditional picking, pick blocking, grips, voicings, history, approaches to learning, etc.
