I need help picking out some instrumental CD's; I want to buy three of them, hopefully from the forum.
One needs to be all LAP STEEL guitar in C6th tuning, one needs to be all
PEDAL steel in C6th tuning, and one needs to be all E9th pedal steel. No vocals.
I want to show comparisons between the three, so they should all be in
the same genre. (They can be all 1950's (real) country, or all mellow jazz
such as "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" and "Misty", they can all be "Romantic
mood music", or they can all be Western Swing.)
I was just looking at the list of CD's on the forum, but I couldn't find the info I'm looking for.
Thanks. Ed

Ed;
Go to the top of this forum page and click on "CD"s & TAPES".

As stated, "If the item number is underlined and/or blue, you can click on it for a full description of the product". I'm not sure if the use of the C6 and E9 neck will be specified. It may be a good place to start however.

Ed has already done that. The problem is that we really don't have enough information about all of the CDs. He needs 3 CDs:

1. all C6th lap steel
2. all C6th pedal steel
3. all E9th pedal steel

And all 3 CDs should be the same style of music. Can anyone recommend 3 CDs that fit the criteria?

I hope there's a great answer, because if there is, i'm buying them too.

In the meantime, you might go at it by finding different versions of the same tune. You mentioned "Misty," and although there are a lot of versions I haven't heard, my favorite versions are by Bobbe Seymour and Gene Jones, but I don't know instruments and tunings these used.

This may help narrow your search - not sure if you can find them on the Forum but I know you can get them from Scotty's Music.

Lloyd Green - Mr. Nashville Sound (all E9th Pedal)
Chuck Lettes - Cool Blue Steel (C6 Lap steel)
Curly Chalker - Big Hits on Big Steel (C6 Pedal)
